I just ordered a 6.5 G RAR for my son. The issue is the only model with a compact stock is the .350 Legend. I wanted the 6.5 in case my son grows up and leaves Maine and has a place to hunt where shots are longer than what we see here (unless hunting a field or power line, we have about 50-75yd shots, max). I need to find a compact stock for it and was hoping folks here may have a line on one or know where to get one that isnt through the Ruger website. I have a sense Ruger is going to be super proud of their compact stock and charge accordingly. Thanks for any help.

Well, patience with the world is short; so I ordered the stock direct from Ruger. They are pretty proud of their polymer...$112 with shipping. I love my son...I love my son... I love my son...

Should be fairly easy to do it yourself, or if you have a trusted gunsmith they should do it for you for less than half the cost than the replacement Ruger stock. I mean cutting down the original stock to desired length, re drilling the screw holes and re profiling the butt pad and re installing the pad.

I could do that, but then when he grows and can use a standard stock, Id be outta luck. Worst case, Ill sell the compact stock after he grows out of it.

You can put spacers in as needed later.
