Makes for interesting politics and law enforcement.
Apologies if this has been addressed before. I wanted to get feedback from readers of this set of readers.

Although I can see the benefit and would not have a problem with my firearm ID'ed.
But if this were to come to ARs, would i that make the upper a registered part of record?

It's so easily defeated that it won't work, simply touch the end of the firing pin to a sandpaper wheel, and there goes the microstamp. Firing pins are easy to make, I've seen AR firing pins made from nails.

And how many REGISTERED, non stolen, guns are used for crimes anyways? All this tells you is who bought it in the first place, and that information isn't supposed to be available. Its just one more gun control measure that won't work because criminals don't obey laws.

There are something like 100 million gun owners in the United States. Somewhere around 300 million firearms WITHOUT microstamped firing pins. Tell me how you help the illegal problem by starting microstamping?

Hi Bill - I agree that this is a wasteful feel-good effort by politicians that don't understand firearms.
The Antiguan laws passes to date are not responsible for the decrease in crime.
But given that I'm a bit overly sensitive to what politicians can do (living in CA), I was thinking of th impact of a law applied to ARs - with the firing pin now being registered.

Yes, it would make the upper a registered item. BUT....California has been trying this since 2007 and can't make it work.

The firing pins would have to be serial numbered. Then it would be the part that is the gun. Better stock op on firing pins.

First pierced primer and the data is gone. 5000 rounds and you are in the same place.
This is absolute BS. Anyone with even the most basic grasp of tooling can see that this will not work. The bigger joke and the more insidious one is that someone was allowed to patent a simple data stamp and this has been backed by the lawmakers.

this is just a way to no who has what.........and when the have that list it makes it easier to no who to take them from...........make sure you all sign a petition against the un gun treaty we all love our gun so thats keep them. they are trying to ban ar style rifles they state they are not hunting rifles thats be sure to show them otherwise........sorry about the rant
