Er, guys, this is the quote I was responding to. It seemed that Montana's judgement was based upon that person being a professed Democrat, rather than him specifically claiming that he was anti-gun.

We have a member in our shooting club who came from out of state and is a die hard democrat. When I tried to have a friendly discussion on the subject with him, "all he could muster was" he was too liberal to ever vote for a Republican. This guy has a gun collection of the most expensive and customized STI pistols and JP rifles, "with so called high capacity magazines" of any member in Montana I have ever seen. He is what I call, a hypocrite: : a person who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings : : a person who puts on a false appearance of virtue.

Roger but this is a pro gun forum so when someone comes across as being anti gun or anti 2A, there will be fire.

In Stan's case, he has been here since this started due to his profession as a firearms historian and the place where the Grendel fits in as a intermediate cartridge.

Doesn't necessarily mean he believes the 2A guarantees our right to keep and bear arms. And he doesn't.

What I've said is that the purpose of the 2A was to guarantee that members of State militias would have access to standard military weapons. Since the old State militia system was abandoned long ago, the original purpose is no longer relevant.

However, as written, the 2A does not specify that only military weapons are protected, so in theory, the 2A should guarantee the right to keep and bear all types of arms. In reality, it does not. And indeed, most "pro-2A" people do not want it to.

Stan has never agreed with any pro gun opinion on this forum that I can recall.

What??? Why, in this very thread I agreed with montana that the 2A was not about hunting or sporting guns.

He has never to my recollection criticized a single Democrat for any sort of infringement on our rights and particularly those who vow to ban and confiscate all of our firearms.

I never saw any reason to. It would be redundant, voicing the same objections that everyone else has.

So if someone is going to post a pro 2A comment on the forum, expect Stan to disagree.

Depends on whether the comment is something I agree with or not. Contrary to popular opinion, I don't disagree with everything.

to:

My arguments and comments are from my own mind. Any perceived similarity to Democratic party positions is purely coincidental.


I have never called for any new gun laws. As I recall, you advocated "red flag" laws, which is something the Democrats want.

I advocate for taking steps that keep firearms out of the hands of nuts who want to use them to kill people. I also advocate for taking steps to keep vehicles, airplanes, etc out of the hands of nuts who want to use them to kill people. For this you say I am anti gun? You have never argued for our gun rights on this forum. You have only argued against them.

So guys, if you post some pro gun message on the 2A forum, Stan will immediately disagree. Respond to him and you will get embroiled in an endless argument over who said what and when.
