its good for them but as stated i will keep renewing my permit. in ky with a permit you can buy firearms and there is no call in to the ATF,,,,,is that how it is in other states?

In Utah the background checks are conducted by the State (B.C.I). If you have a carry permit, the $7.50 fee is waived but the permit is checked to verify it is valid and is recorded on the 4473 just like a Driver's license is.

i was once told that the reason they dont have to do a call in background check in KY is because they do a monthly check on every single conceiled carry holder to be sure they still are legal to have the permit. i am not sure its true and dont know how to validate that claim but it seems reasonable it could be,,,,,
