New ‘Warrior Web’ System

Imagine having to carry a 100-pound pack for who knows how many miles. This is exactly what many soldiers have to do on a daily basis and the U.S. military is hoping to lighten their load.

The Pentagon’s research arm DARPA (the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) is working on technology that is exoskeleton-like in its function but doesn’t require wearing a bulky structure reminiscent of Iron Man’s suit.

How is the soldier going to stay cool. I remember sweating all the time with just cammies on. I didn't have all the gear they have now.

CO: "How much can you carry and still walk. It sure would be awesome if each man could carry 3 extra mortar rounds, and 200rds of 7.62. We could extend the time between re-supply significantly. First Sergeant..."

Joe: "Fuuuuuuuu........"





2 days into mission....

First Sergeant: "Sir, half of 1st Platoon's EXOSK systems are broken, and they've re-distributed the loads to the working ones. The batteries are draining 300% faster than normal, so we need batteries and replacement parts now. Here's the re-supply request list, fully annotated according to the Battalion EXOSK resupply request decision tree matrices that those desk jockeys at Brigade came up with."

CO: "Were these properly 2404'd before we left? I thought every EXOSK was good-to-go, Top."
