Little off topic...can someone explain the small explosion inside the gel after the first "return to normal" phase of the Gel?

Sticks, I believe the phenomenon is roughly the same physics as a "fire piston." Rapidly compressed air has a sort of diesel effect.

Still need some sort of fuel for the combustion, and I would think that gel would have a hard time compressing to 300psi...could be wrong. It can't be just air, or there would be no need for big oil.

Is is some sort of chemical reaction with the gel? Is the same thing happening in flesh/organic tissue? I would think you would see some sort of cauterizing in the permanent wound cavity.

This phenomenon was discussed some years ago, perhaps in a different forum. My recollection -- which may or may not be accurate, so take it FWIW -- is that it was explained thusly:

The test medium is not ordnance gelatin, which is yellow and translucent, not clear and transparent. The chemical composition of the gel substitute is what fuels the brief combustion.

Its called adiabatic ignition, and is what makes diesel engines run without spark-plugs.

As the volume decreases, the temperature increases, and if the temperature gets high enough, it will emit a light, or flash.

So much for "green" ammo! On top of that they continue to rape the taxpayer by suppressing technology to steer contracts. Picatinny Arsenal just renewed the secrecy order on our Gila Defense Systems rifle technology. Just from a taxpayer perspective, this is outrageous!
