New PSA 12” 6.5 Grendel Pistol

What barrel length is the Tavor? A 6.5G Tavor would be super thumbs up cool.

16” barrel on the Tavor. The Kel-Tec has mentioned future plans for the RDB bullpup in 6.5 Grendel. I’m not holding my breath on Kel-Tec releasing a 6.5 Grendel in the next 5 years.


IWI has stated they were not going to introduce a 6.5 Grendel variant even though they produced a 7.62x39 Tavor. The Tavor SAR like mine have been discontinued in favor of the X95.

Other semi autos in 6.5 Grendel are the XCR, CMMG Mutant, Vepr 6.5 Grendel plus a AK variant from Serbia. No other 6.5 Grendel platforms on the horizon to my knowledge.

Vascar, Couldn't that 7.62x39 Tavor be rebarrled to grendel?

Just asking never seen such weapon in person, so have no clue how they are put together and work compared too the ar

There were rumors Israeli Military Industries (IMI) sold 7.62x39 TAR 21 to Georgia and Ukraine developed a Tavor TAR 21 in 5.45x39. If IMI/IWI ever developed a TAR21/Tavor in 7.62x39 the leadership of IMI/IWI have focused on sales of their AK variant Galil Ace in 7.62x39. Regardless there has never been another source for barrels or bolts for Tavor’s in the US other than IWI. Since IWI developed an X95 in 300 Black Out it is pretty obvious IWI saw the versatility of suppressor use with the 300 BO over the x39.

I personally don’t think the Tavor series of weapon design is inherently accurate enough to take advantage of the 6.5 Grendel’s potential. In a combat situation I think the slower recovery time and added weight of the 6.5 Grendel ammunition compared to 5.56 precludes a 6.5 Grendel or 7.62x39 from ever being acquired by government agencies.

I really like the Tavor SAR as it is a very compact weapon without having to deal with SBR requirements. The Tavor SAR is a robust reliable weapon just like the AK but the long stroke gas piston design is not known for stellar accuracy. The Tavor has adequate combat accuracy but is not as inherently accurate as the AR-16/AR-15.

I've been hoping they'd follow through on this. I also think that the SU-15C chambered in 6.5 Grendel would make a great truck gun. But Kel-Tec being Kel-Tec...we wait.
