I'm mystified. Savage never chambered a Grendel but has chosen to do the ARC. On the flip side, Ruger, Howa and CZ chamber 7.62x39 and Grendel, yet it's been crickets from them regarding the ARC. Strange stuff.
Interested in learning more about the magazine they plan to use.

That's going to be key for me.
Some pictures on vendor sites show the 110 tactical with an AI-looking style dbm, the specs say 12 round... don't know how that figures but there ya are for now.

Yeah, it's strange, I'm personally more interested in a 6mm ARC in a factory bolt gun than a Grendel as it'd basically be a fast twist 6mm PPC. I was sure Howa was going to bring out a Mini, they were even on Hornady's list of introductory 6mm ARC firearms manufacturers, but it looks like they've petered out for 2021.... Disappointing. I honestly wasn't expecting a 527 in 6mm ARC for a while as CZ seems kind if slow to adapt to new chamberings.
I don't really care for Salvage rifles, may have to bite the bullet get a mini in 6.5 to rebarrel.

Does Savage have a micro action, or do they just put 223 in a standard large action? If so, do they anything to reduce the length of the bolt throw?
I vaguely recall that Savage briefly chambered a rifle in 6.8 SPC, but there was some issue with jamming or ejection due to the short case length. Does anyone recall more?

I re-barreled a savage axis to 6.8, it would feed ok, just couldn't get the range/accuracy I was looking for.
I also tried a model 10 into a 6.5 grendel but that one had feeding issues, the round would pop up too quickly. Even with the so-called 7.62x39 dbm mag.
I think they are using their current actions, they add spacers at the back or front (maybe the lug-follower?) to shorten up the throw.
The axis is a one-size action for long or short.
The new "110" is probably the short action one.
So I am very interested in how they feed. That they are offering 2 models, leads me to hope they have something figured out.
Howa's not doing anything, Ruger's not either, so this for now, is the one bolt action factory rifle in the game.

Looking at the specifications on the Savage 110 shows 1:7.5 twist and 12 round detachable magazine and if the photo is correct polymer mag. I sure didnt care for the styling of the Axis II or the 4 round flush fit magazine. Maybe the Axis II will be better in person.

There were several 25.6" CZ American Varmints chambered in 6.5 Grendel on Gunbroker for $649 new. I passed as I'm really more interested in a 6mm ARC bolt gun. I, too, was holding out for a Mini 20" HB in ARC. We'll see. I, too, may wind up rebarreling a Mini or CZ.

Savage makes Sort of a Mini. The Model 25. Ugly as sin to me and I think the stock is fastened to the barrel. It is supposed to be accurate and has a barrel nut. I think it has a separate bolt head an comes in 223.

These are in the axis II and the 110 tactical lines, though.

Seriously though, I had forgotten about the model 25. Has anyone seen it converted to the Grendel or anything else with a larger case head?

Glad to see see savage being bold enough to release this sweet chambering in times of slim & or high priced ammo. Hard to opt to buy a new rifle when ammo may be running 3.00 per round or un-available.

That being said I did opt to purchase a CZ 527 drop in barrel, chambered in 6mm arc. I would not be surprised if I was able to get this cz up and running before Savage hit the street. Hope the ammo situation turns around sooner than later. most indications are things will be tight throughout 2021.
Ill be loading my ammo w Lapua Grendel or 220 Russian brass formed to 6mm ARC due to lack of availability of 6 ARC brass. Know issues are existent across the gamete. Still reminds me of the likes of the 17 fireball. Chambering did not do as well as it could have due in large part to the price & availability of ammo & or brass was poor at best.
Looking forward to receiving the 6mm arc barrel in the next few months if all goes well.

I may not have posted it here, but they emailed me and said they are into production... no availability date yet. The 110 line will use an aics mag, and the axis ii will use a form of their savage dbm mag.

I will also put in a word for Uintah. If you want quicker, get their bolt action upper. 22. I have one and its breaking in very well. Looks kinda pricey at first glance but youd probably be close to the price once done with fiddling with the savage. I say that and I like the savages... but the boys from Utah beat savage out to my checkbook this time.
