6.5 complete upper. Hey everyone new to forum, but not shooting. Was looking at a 6.5 grendel as addition to my collection. Will be used for hunting ( north Florida South Georgia deer and hogs) as well as shooting out to 600 yards. Dont really want to build one as Im looking to make sure it is sub MOA. Am considering Atheris, LaRue, and Grendel Hunter uppers. Would like to keep it under 1000 for the upper as I have to put together the lower and scope it. Talked to the folks at Compass Lake yesterday, they are sending me a price but Im afraid it will exceed 1000 ( may go for it if not much above as they are within driving distance and a fellow range member swears by their work). Any insight on the first three will be greatly appreciated.

Need all the help I can get (LOL). Going to pair it with an excellent trigger and Leupold scope. Like the thoughts of Leupolds CDS dial for compensating at longer ranges,
Ranch Manager I have 4 Grendel uppers, 2 Oden uppers, 2 Precision, all are MOA or better .Im an instant gratification type guy, LaRue had uppers in stock so I ordered them.
Most of my scopes are Nightforce scopes, my Leupolds are fine scopes as well.
A lot of shooters are going to first focal plane scopes with a milrad reticle. Im 72 years old and a MOA guy.
Compass Lake is one of my favorite vendors, good guys all around .I have a .223 upper that shoots lights out , it has had thousands and thousands of rounds down the pipe and it shoots very well still.
I really look forward to following your progress with your gun.

CJW are you pleased with the LaRue uppers you ordered? Liked Precision but 1600 might be a stretch. Better half asked me what I was going to buy, told her I was torn. She suggested Precision or Compass Lake. May just have to stretch the upper.
Going to look at nightforce scopes. Have time to kill were camping!

Getting ready for a pig hunt Thursday, Friday and Saturday so I wont be able to start shooting it for a couple of weeks.
The Grendel has really captured my imagination, I havent shot a .223 in several years.
I want you to watch some hunting videos that Double Naught Spy, Toolsofthetrade & Hunttexashogs have made.
These boys really are into it, their videos are much more entertaining than anything on Netflix.
My very first Grendel upper came from Odin Works, Im hunting with that upper this week because it is a lucky upper..
It just wont miss a pig.

Shot some pigs! They are a nuisance. We drag them out to the powerline and Fred the buzzards.
Occasionally in the winter we keep a good doe after eating our corn.
Yes its Saturday about to pour me one and sit on the porch in this Florida heat with my bride. She says go all out on this build. Gotta love that gal!

My Oden uppers are exceptional, there is one hand guard that I did not like the style, so I swapped it out with them at no charge. If you go with Oden get the larger diameter hand guard. Both of mine shoot absolutely lights out, no copper at all ..very easy to clean.
I am not very anal about breaking in a bbl Ive tried breaking them in very carefully and just tried to melt the barrel down the first time I shot it. Cant tell a bit of difference in the accuracy, barrel longevity or ease of cleaning.
My lucky Oden hunting upper I will clean the bbl every 300 or 400 shots. I do take down the BCG every time I shoot and thoroughly clean it and I clean the clean the chamber very well. I run the gun very wet .
I normally shoot 200 rounds a week, all one and 2 MOA plates at 2, 3 & 400 yards. Cant stand to shoot paper targets, makes me want to stick an ice pick in my eye ..
Shooting under field conditions is more my style.
When I shoot something I love to hear the ding of the bullet hitting the plate or see a pig blowing blood out of his nose.
Breaking in a barrel is a waste of ammo and time for me, many of the vile horde will disagree with me.
These decisions you are making are hard but fun at the same time .
There is one thing that I want to make perfectly clear, if you think you are only going to have one Grendel, you really have another thing coming .
I started out watching Double Naught Spys videos several years ago and they completely corrupted me.
I didnt even on an AR, I was a high end bolt gun guy ..
