Stick with a carbine buffer and spring, and just use an SLR Adj gas block. Ive had great luck with a 12.5 SBR set up like that. Granted it was a 6.8 not a 6.5, but I tuned the GB for running w/ a suppressor and it never have me a lick of trouble. Felt like a BB gun when I was shooting it too.
