It's a mystery why anyone would promote cryogenic treatment after machining. This kind of thing should be done before the barrel is drilled. If the cryogenic treatment is effective then there will be some conversion from austenite to martensite. The two compounds have different densities so the process is going to cause a change in the volume of the steel. That can cause problems if the blank has already been drilled. These guys should be marketing to the barrel makers, not to consumers.
