I still don't understand this fascination with trust am especially after Obama's 41f. Trusts are a cause for delay themselves and an opportunity for exposure if not properly maintained. Right now, you can transfer free once to the next generation of close relative. Individuals are generally faster.
when I did my F1, it was cashed in a week (CC on F1). When I did my F4, almost 3 weeks waiting on gen FFL dealer to submit a paper check and for said check to clear. As explained to me, your paperwork will not be scanned and forwarded until the IRS has your cash. If you didn't use a CC then it will take several extra handling because it (reciept of funds - i.e. "...until the fee is paid..." from 26 USC) can't be instantly verified recieved.
I just enveloped my F1, no certified, no tracking, no nothing. It got their fine. It just took 314 days (pre-election) to approve. NFA tracker does have a neat downward trend line BUT, you have to pay close attention that just as the chart creeps left at each new month with the line trending down, older points pop up and fill in above the line. That's what we don't see because we are watching the trend (i.e. the fastest returns, not the most common or average.
