I’ve actually got it working “ok” now in the factory stock. I wouldn’t want to rely on it going into war but, for just goofing off, it’s a lot better than it was right out of the box.
I’ve been pondering a Savage conversion for some time now as well. Have a couple of candidates laying around here I’ve been eyeballing. I just can’t get excited about converting an Axis, then eventually having to replace the stock on it later. Plus, the mag system they use is barely any better, if that, than the jury rigged crap I’m using right now. So, again, what’s the point, at least for me?
While I’m huge fan of the Grendel, it’s really in the AR platform where it shines and holds my interest. In a bolt gun, I’m still wondering why? When I think I could just shoot the Creedmoor with reduced loads and still come out ahead.
