Another reason to thank President Trump

That's the direction of American economics. Even the family farm is being absorbed by corporate farmers. Your urban problems are just going to be compounded over the next decade. There are some of us who refuse to believe or accept that Modern Capitalism has a dark underbelly. Do so at your own peril. For my part, I refuse to have a love affair with the likes of either Donald Trump or Jeff Bezos. We need investment and infrastructure. But we are also balls deep in globalization, and both of these men swim in the pool. (or Shark Tank, if you like)

I understand the strategy. But what it ignores, is the fact that somebody DOES have to pay for it, and as there is no such thing as a "good" bankruptcy. The bigger the "entrepreneur", the bigger the string of bankruptcies tends to be. Is that OK? There are substantial costs to the nation. There are litigation costs, personal costs, and tangential costs. The only people that ever win, are the "entrepreneur" and the bankruptcy attorneys. Is it reality? Yes. Is it acceptable, or something to be nonchalant about? Hell no.

I've got a family business that's been continuously in operation since the 1860's. Never once filed bankruptcy. We don't own much, don't take much for salary. Most goes straight back into the business. There's nothing wrong with that model, so long as one doesn't use their personal life to embezzle from their livelihood, or push through the already gaping tax loopholes. (I mean, you use what's available to you legally)

I’m more of a fan of the family-owned business, which is where I am as well. That’s the real American Dream, not going to a hybrid government/Prussian/Adam Weishaupt school for 12-18 years so you can compete for different levels of debt slavery with other salaried-neighbors in the real estate developer’s vision of a cookie-cutter neighborhood.

Good entrepreneurs and their employees win when they successfully negotiate through aspects of their business that are net negatives. Unsuccessful entrepreneurs who get into personal bankruptcy not only have to let all their employees go, but they usually suffer personally. I think there was a point where Trump was in-debt by over 1 billion dollars, and he somehow had the fortitude and skill set to be able to manage himself out of it. That’s really a story that doesn’t get fully-covered.

Steve Jobs is also another interesting case study. Whenever I’m on long drives, I listen to a really comprehensive biography of him that pulled no punches. There is no, “He’s a totally evil person!” or, “He’s the techno messiah!” when you look at the totality of his life. He did things for the world that affect us right now even in the ability to communicate this way, and also did some things with how he treated other people that actually are reprehensible.

I like learning lessons from others and filtering out the traits that I dislike, while absorbing the ones I do like in my own life. Speaking of which, time to go out and pass on my passion for shooting with my family today. Hope everyone is having a great day and being thankful for the freedoms we still enjoy.
