Today, the UT State legislature is debating HB60, which is Permitless Concealed Carry.
We passed it years ago, only to have the Governor veto it. He was considered one of the most Conservative Governors in the US, but lost my respect after that.
Any man that assumes he has a right to tell another human being how, when, where, or if they will manage their personal protective posture is a predator in-disguise.
The funny thing is that the only reason the UT legislature even brought that bill previously to the floor and passed it was because one of them was out shooting, LE made contact with them out in the foothills for some reason, and noticed that their jacket was partially concealing a handgun.
The LEO issued a citation for carrying without a permit, which incensed the politician, who then went back to the Legislature and took it to committee. Pro-freedom representatives said theyve wanted to do a no-permit CCW bill anyway, so it went from committee to the House and Senate and passed, only to have Governor Herbert veto it, saying, I think the current system works fine the way it is.
Under the current system, a human being in the State has to jump through all these bureaucratic hoops with the State, fingerprinting and registering themselves with the Bureau of Criminal Investigations, in order to ask permission to carry a defensive firearm on their person discreetly, and pay a fine to exercise that privilege, even though the Second Amendment forbids government from infringing on that right.
