Yes, the hotel quarantine idea is a dodgy one and on that we agree. Not so much the use of hotels but that they are all in the middle of capital cities. Only the Northern Territory is using a purpose-built asylum/quarantine facility outside Darwin that was built before the Pandemic. If there is something Australia is not short of it is space so you'd think small tent cities could be quickly erected on airport property or even outside the city. It is not as if the country has not had a pandemic before. There are several derelict quarantine facilities for Spanish Flu in all cities near, but remote from the CBD. Although thousands have been processed through the hotels almost all the outbreaks have come from either city hotels or hospitals.
I imagine the relocatable cabins will be 'Dongas' which are de-mountable simple buildings used at minesites and transportable on the back of trucks.Not exactly 5-star but probably no Formaldehyde. Too late for a couple of East coast states as Delta has taken a foothold. Our state will be infected eventually and the holiday will be over.
