LRRP52: Thanks, as usual, for your insightful commentary.

So, what is your bottom line? If you were the U.S. president, what should the U.S. do — or not do — in response to the current situation, and why?

To oversimplify, do you consider one to be the "good guy" and the other to be the "bad guy"?

Therein lies the problem. Our current Resident of the WH has been on the Soviet and Russian payroll since no later than 1972, but more likely 1968. The recent examples that have spilled out into the open with Hunter and James are just the latest escapades of the crack-fiend bagman family intermediaries who stumble around the world’s stage like Chris Farley in Tommy Boy, only worse. Chris Farley was far smarter.

Notice how Putin had to refrain from overt invasion tactics prior to Biden, but now is free to do whatever he wants in Ukraine.

A lot of this has to do with energy policy, and the first move Biden made was killing Keystone and banning drilling permits for 60 days as a favor for Putin.

If we had a legitimate President with genuine interest in representing the US first, not selling out to those who compromised him decades ago to enrich his imbecile family, there are a number of moves you could make as a chess-player.

The long-term problem you face at that level is that if you deal economic blows to Russia and destabilize Russia, we’re back to a Nunn-Lugar/Yeltsin era where we worry about who they sell their nukes to as the economy goes into freefall.

If you had a short-term reactionary and aggressive mindset with war hawkish tendencies, you could leverage mercenary forces like Putin did in Syria with Wagner Group, but have them force-multiplied with drones.

That 40 mile long Russian convoy could easily be turned into a highway of death once you bottle up the head and tail, then drone-strike it every night with incendiary and cluster munitions designed to ignite light-skinned vehicles.

You could also announce our new plan on Cuba, where we stand with the Cuban people in arresting and hanging all the communists in war tribunals, then incorporate the Cuban Caribbean paradise into the US economy once again, with a massive real estate opportunity for Cubans and people in the region. Ban all Russians and Chinese or any CIS members from the island as policy since they have instituted the crimes against humanity on Cuban people for 63 years.

It sure would be awful if things started blowing up in Kaliningrad, which isn’t and never was part of Russia. The whole assertion is quite the farce, and clearly an attack vector for future crimes against Europe.

Russian submarines also have a habit of not resurfacing.

This only works if you have US oil/NG production like we did from 2017-2020 though.

You could do all of this and claim with a straight face like Putin has that we have nothing to do with it. Take a few power pieces off the board he thought he had, then atrit the Russian Army and VVS invasion forces to an unaffordable level that depletes their expeditionary force projection capacity and thereby delays or denies the future plans Putin has for the Baltics, Poland, Romania, and Finland.

But since we have Russian and Chicom Putin puppets in the WH, SECDF, DoD, Senate, and House, none of the above will happen.

The other place to look though is China and how they will benefit from all of this. Right now, they’re negotiating discounted oil and wheat from Russia and the ready-to-ship millions of metric tons of grain sitting at the docks on the ports of Ukraine.

A penny for a measure of wheat and a penny for three measures of barley, and see though hurt not the oil or the wine.....
