Figure out a technique and practice at home. Then when you get to the range you won't get so frustrated.
With a bolt gun I can open the bolt same as an AR, by putting the butt on a hip from a table or against my chest prone.
If I can do it with one arm, you can do it with two weak arms!
But, I've decided to hold off on getting a Grendel AR, since what I want would require a custom build. Besides, the only load I'm interested in shooting is the Wolf FMJ, which won't be here until "sometime next year" (if we're lucky).
Instead, I put some $$$ down on the M1 Carbine I looked at previously. Figured that was the best option for getting back into rifle shooting.
First, it's nice and lightweight, which will help in teaching myself to shoot left-handed (necessary because of the loss of central vision in my right eye).
Second, it has minimal recoil, which will also help in learning to shoot again.
Third, it doesn't need any modifications or customizing. It's good to go as is.
And fourth, I fell in love with the M1 Carbine the day that my Dad brought his home one day in 1952, because he had guard duty on a weekend, when we were in Germany. It was also what I shot when I was in the Air Force, and was the first military-type rifle that I bought after I got out of the service. Consider it my version of "Back To The Future!"
