Howa 6.5G 20" heavy barrel in BRN-1 chassis: how to shoot slower

im looking to build anothyer mini in 6.5 for my son for deer. i also have the same 2-12 scope and love it. im going b&c m40 again but with bottom metal from pendleton.

Updated stock (AB Arms USS-X) allows for more flexibility in head positioning when prone. Pretty solid, wish the extendable buttstock were just a tad more rigid.

Got my Surefire can on there as well. This is turning out to be a low recoil, low noise build, making it easy to see trace and splash.

2.24"
24.6gr VARGET
Hornady case
FGMM AR primers

I may be wrong, but I'd guess you're seeing lower MV with Varget?
