Did you phone order the combo? You must have got the last 0.135 that TA had in stock. Lucky guy! Trust me that barrel will shoot as good as it looks. I am glad it locks up with your AA bolt. I hope you post up some groups when you stretch its legs.

No, I walked into the local gun store, pointed at a display model, (in 5.56), and said "I want a 264 LBC contoured just like that, with a bolt."
He said, "I'll have to to order it, will take 6-8 weeks." I said, "no problem", and he called me last month and said it was in. The only spec I stated was to be sure it was 1:8 twist.

You must have gotten one of the first ones made in the new shop. I have a new 264 upper coming in TODAY. I am excited about hitting the range and making more empties. Greg

I too have a 5.56 16" BHW barrel I ordered back in Jan 2013 right after the gun control hoopla. At the same time, I also had ordered a 24" BB in .264 then cancelled it and went with Competition Shooting because they (at the time) did a 28". (they then went to 26" max). Got cold feet and wanted something more "name" and the additional length/velocity. Well the BHW 5.56 has been in my possession for months now. My .264 likely would have been as well.
Lothar and CS have been waiting on bolts and extractors all this time. I wrote Lothar Walther about my CS order and said : I got a bolt, now, how long to get just a barrel. Still months out. As of today, the CS barrel was still on order (with spotty communication), but I canceled as of this morning, now that I know BHW is tooling up in February 2014 to make 26" and 28" for AR. This according to Andy at BHW this morning on the phone. I have no doubt I could order a 24" .264 today and get it by Jan or Feb, but am glad to wait to get what I really want. |
