I like open spaces but hunt big hardwoods now. I’d be lucky to see 100 yds.

I'm jealous; that looks like some beautiful country! Unfortunately, our rifle season for deer is all but gone. Those are some of my favorite 9 days of the year.

RM, In what state were your photos taken?

I went out today in our high population area in PA. Rifles are not allowed.
I took a 12 gauge pump for a walk in State Game Land number 157. I didn't see any living thing except for trees.
I heard about 20 shots from the surrounding farmland.

These pictures were taken in Montana.

The first ones are near Lincoln, MT and the latter ones near Utica, MT.

We shoot a lot of our deer with shotguns here too. Some of the closer hunting areas are weapon restricted areas.

I tried a new spot on Friday. Much better. The deer have been here.

Hunters have been here recently as well. I think this hunter did not get his deer yet this year.

I should be out there now but am sitting at home drinking some cinnamon schnapps. Too late in the day to go now. Will try tomorrow.

Wish there was somewhere around here I could hunt that I felt comfortable enough leaving a tree stand out in the woods. Around here if it's made of metal and unattended the dope heads can smell it for about 5 miles in all directions.

It is locked with a cable lock so it would take a little effort to steal. I wouldn't anyway. It is on public land. I think the park police would remove it if they knew it was there since I don't think the rules allow you to leave it there. It had no tag with the owner's name which I think would be required if permitted. There was another metal ladder stand nearby which I saw a few days later.
