Illinois lefties shot down - Deerfield judge blocks 'assault weapons' ban

An Illinois circuit court judge has issued a permanent injunction that bans Deerfield Illinois from enforcing its so-called "assault weapons" ban.

Yes but the City Attornery and or Attorney General will drag this out for months if not years. At least the Judge issued an injunction in this case. There is a case where the State revoked a Friend’s FOID card because she pled guilty to simple battery against her now desceased ex husband. The State’s Attorney assured her this guilty plea would not affect her FOID card (in 2001).

The State AG says since this involved a family member or partner it meets the standard for domestic battery. She in essense is barred for life from possessing firearms and ammunition. She has tried to get a hearing with the Director of the State Police who is supposed to be the abritrator but refuses to review any cases. She tried to get a pardon from the Governors which has failed. She filed suit in Circuit Court and won the case but the State has appealed the case. She has yet to be issued an FOID card because the state is stalling.

She appealed on the grounds her second amendment was violated. The defendent in this case was charged in June of 2001 and other than a seatbelt violation ticket I think she has no other criminal or traffic conviction or arrest.

There was no investigation into the incident where my Friend was arrested and even so the complaining witness is dead. This woman is a grandmother and no threat to society. She likes to shoot and deer hunt plus is an upstanding citizen.

What really makes me mad is a Person applied for a CCW permit and the State discovered he had out of State Felony Convictions. The State revoked his FOID card and denied his request for CCW permit. The State did nothing else but later this individual killed several people when he was fired from his job in Aurora Illinois. The State Police is now going to notify the local Police if people get a revoked FOID and expect the local LE to investigate. This is a State Law, let the State follow up on their own crap! The local Police and Sheriff have enough to do.

In the case of my Friend the legal proceeding is being handled by assistant Attorney General. There hasn’t been one State Police employee to testify to the facts of this case or to represent the State Police in this matter. The State Police by statute manage the FOID program but it is the AG who are liberal politicians pursuing these cases. There have been hundreds of Illinois residents who’ve had their FOID cards revoked over plea deals over 30 years ago. I had another Friend who plead guilty to Disorderely Conduct in 1978 and got his FOID revoked on similar grounds.

Sorry for the rant but this hasn’t done anything to impact the crime rate but does violate these people constitutional rights.

I moved our family out of Illinois in 1989 and am glad of it. I know not everyone can do that but personally I'd encourage everyone who can, to do so. Even if it's just over the line into Indiana or Ky. Vote with your feet.

Congrats out to the various counties and Sheriffs that are enabling "2nd amendment sanctuary counties" and refusing to enforce the process of disarming the nation.

Looks like FOID just got shot down by the courts too. This is getting entertaining! Nice to see some of these unconstitutional laws drop, just hope that these rulings hold up.
