Virginia rally

I won't lock it because Stan wants to start a religious based argument. I will lock it if guys take the bait.

Now that this demonstration is over, maybe you can tell us about it and also if it had any meaning.

LR55

From what I seen on some of the on the ground YouTube gun channel guys vids that were there.

The rally did not accomplish a thing really, the state government officials didn't seem to change their minds really and look to be still going forward with their insane gun laws.

But I didn't watch all the vids and Twitter post and Facebook blogs so I could be missing a bunch of intel.

I guess we'll see what ''laws'' they pass. At least the good people of Virginia stood up to make their voices heard. Too bad they didn't do this in November. This could have been largely avoided. Look at the states that have already fallen. NY, CA, NJ, MD and many more. Many are well on their way with only one or two election cycles left of "freedom".

The communists now in power will likely continue their assault on America and the constitution with the continued blessings of the courts which they also control. Once the disarmament of America is effectively completed, the real pain will begin.

The rally drew between 22,000 and 60,000 attendees. I too am watching to see what the Dems in the Legislature will do. One of the more noteworthy parts was the Virginia Sheriff's Association was there as a group in support of the 2A, and continuing to maintain that they will not enforce unconstitutional laws in their counties if passed.
This was a large group and it may cause some of the more rural Dems to moderate, again we'll see.
Lots of people and lots of regions in Va are really angry that's for sure, and I think that point is not lost on politico's.

How so? I don't see how such a demonstration last November would have changed anything.

Yes. It's not a question of if, but when.

Can we leave religion out of the discussion, please?

I'd wager that scenes like these only confirmed their opinions and made them more resolved to pass such laws.

Not getting involved in the rest of the discussion points - you tend to kinda thrive on being contrarian for the sake of being contrarian at times. So whatever on the other stuff, but with regards to your last point, I'm actually in full agreement. Showing up armed in public like that is an intimidation move. An intimidation move to people with the power to make it illegal to do that; and already want to. A move made by the one group of American's left that it's celebrated to be publicly prejudiced against. How do you think that's going to play out? I think it's about the dumbest move one can make - and it labels the rest of us poorly as well.

I guess the Spartans at Thermopylae should have just laid down their arms and gone home when the "emperor of the world" Xerxes showed up with his 1000's of armies... they surely were stupid to say Molon labe! As history has (surely!!) told us over and over!!!
Not.
We owe the very existence of our western world in large part to their valiant defense.

Not photo shopped at all. If you do any looking with regards to the rally you'll find thousands upon thousands of similar pictures.

Dude really? Did you even look at the pic?

You can clearly see a white hard hat floating in mid air. Now tell me that ain't photo shopped for some reason.

I didn't and don't care what guns they were carrying at the rally. If I had been there I would have been in full kit as well.

I just want to know where the pic came from so I can track down the origami pic and see what they tryed covering with that hard hat.

I did, it's an intimation move. It's a projection of lethal power, and a demonstration of willingness to escalate. It's as helpful as Islamic protesters burning American flags. It's a right and I would never seek to require curtailment of it - I just think it does more to entrench opposition and the smearing of 2nd-Amendment supporters as dangerous radicals.

A simple: "Look at this?! Do you really think these people should have guns like this in public?!?" And I can tell you what directly most soccer moms are going to go on that.

And indeed, that's pretty much exactly what NPR did. They opened their spot yesterday on All Things Considered with "state organizers and the governors office breath a big sigh of relief at a relatively uneventful protest today.." [which, yea - prejudice much NPR? heh, by the way, if you really want to make a Leftist come to a SCREACHING HALT, accuse them of being prejudiced. It's actually correct, and quite entertaining to watch the gyrations as their very essence can't allow that word to be applied to themselves!]

Intimidation is subjective. I remember, "a leftist elderly woman who got intimidated by a bronze bust of a cowboy wearing a rain slicker in an art store" after the Columbine shooting. The best outcome of this march was the behaviour of the armed protesters, supported by members of the law enforcement community and the zero violence or vandalism. Compare that to the Portland leftist anifa protesters, "with the news media" claiming the protest was quote: mostly peaceful. Trying to appease the low IQ window lickers is a waste of time. Any person with a brain stem will be able to discern the difference.

I am in complete agreement with the red. And ... mostly in agreement with the rest. You're not wrong.

The white hard hat is likely attached to somebody's web gear, or being held in hand by a person who is hidden from view by the guys in the foreground.

The photo is on a Fox website: https://fox40.com/2020/01/20/pro-gun-ral...eacefully/

Its real big on the screen. So yes i looked at it! And i don't see it floating at all. It's edges are obscured on two sides. So there is the distinct possibility is isn't actually floating... You may be right, but i doubt it.

If you're worried about losing the battle of public perception, you've already lost. So I suppose you also would be against escalation once the laws are passed? Simply comply? Escalation may be whats needed. Considering the oppositions is already in their trenches and (figuratively) shooting at our rights, i don't care if they dig deeper or not....

Perhaps gun owners should start having 2A parades on the reg and attempt to normalize this look, much like the lgbtqrs community has done? We're often well behind the other side, much to our own detriment...Sad

Completely different situation. The Spartans were heavily armed and wearing full body armor because they were part of an organized military force defending Greece against an invading foreign army. They were not lobbying their own government for a change in policy.

Indeed. Which makes it supremely ironic, because Sparta was a military dictatorship, where the individual was subjugated to the state.

Concur. Wearing cammies and full battle gear, and toting an assault rifle, makes gun owners look like dangerous nut cases, not responsible citizens.
