It seems like every fund drive email now is more dire and desperate than the one before. I know theyve been dealing with real financial problems and internal strife for at least the last few years. And the virus and its associated economic destruction could not have come at a worse time.
Does anyone else get the sense the end is near, like weeks or months away, not years? For me, when I heard they were doing away with the free coffee for employees last year or something to that affect. Thats a sure sign things are serious and unraveling. Thats akin to rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic!
Im naturally pessimistic, hope Im wrong.

Wouldn't hurt my feelings if you were right. They're not advocating for my rights. They're lining their pockets. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

I would rather they cleaned up their act and get busy filing some lawsuits, to start forcing the libs to pay to defend themselves.

Im sorry to hear you say that. While I understand, even agree with some of your sentiments, Im not sure how losing the NRA would really help. Not hard to imagine where we as country would be right now without them. One just has to look at the UK, Australia, Canada, the list goes on. There but fore the grace of God.................... Do I agree with everything theyve done? Hell no, of course not but, I could say the same about most of my immediate family also.
Theres clearly a problem with the current leadership that needs correcting. I was somewhat hopeful there would be some meaningful turnover with the last election but that didnt pan out. Very disappointing but, thats the way it goes sometimes. Hopefully there will be another election and we can try again.

If they were gone, they money they suck out of gun owners could go to an organization that will actually fight for 2nd amendment rights.
FYI, the elections are rigged, and Wayne is thoroughly entrenched. Expect no turnover or change in leadership. More of the same is what you will get.

While I agree in principle, Im afraid thats gonna be a tough proposition, given theres a nearly 80 year old multi-billionaire who is willing to fund any and everyone who is willing to attack the 2A and NRA. Its a game of attrition, and those with the deepest pockets have a distinct advantage.

The NRA used to stand for something. Now theyre just another lobbyist org.
Look up GOA. Gun owners of America. Ive gone on their site and I like what Ive seen. They seem to care more about the gun owner, rather than trying to get into his pocket every chance they get.

I maintain my membership in the NRA. Nothing more, nothing less. If they can't figure out how to keep the doors open with $35/member * over 1 million members; then that's on them.
Frankly, the organization needs a changing of the guard. As in - a COMPLETE changing of the guard. Not just replacing Wayne. Sadly, I don't see any of that happening. But yes, I'll renew next year too.

True, never said it would be easy. But even an 80-bazillionaire can be brought down, death by a thousand cuts.
When he has to bleed a lot of money he'll back out and look for another way.
Our real problem is we don't have a bunch of idealistic lawyers who relish a fight down in the trenches...
Nor apparently many organization CEO's who are willing to think and act strategically.

NRA figures out a long time ago they make more money from losing than winning.
Keep gun owners scared and gun owners keep donating.
To hell with them. They are just as swampy as anyone in the democrat/Republican Party and care for us and our rights just as little.

Hes got more than 55 Billion dollars and is nearly 80 years old. More money than he could spend in 10 lifetimes. Bringing them down would be a huge trophy on the wall for his legacy. He can see the NRA is in trouble, hes not going anywhere! And truthfully, hes succeeding. The NRA was virtually absent in the elections leading up to and including the 2A sanctuary fight here in Virginia. Right in their own backyard. Why? I think it obvious, theyre broke! The NRA is not filing lawsuits because Lawyers want/need to get paid too!

But they are really the only reason any of us can still own a gun.

As a Life member since the late 70's I've seen several top heavy changes. The over riding factor is that the NRA does a whole lot more than lobby, thank goodness they do though, the training is top notch, overseeing local, State, and USA matches. plus being an outlet for the very young shooters working up thru the ranks.
Do they have problems, yes but don't be so quick to sell the NRA short as there is no one else doing all the good that they do to promote the shooting/hunting sport including hunter safety.

Websites are cheap. Lobbying is not. How do you think the Gov't gets an earful from the gun owners? How many of us have gone face to face with your representatives?
I am not a fan of some of the recent theatrics within the NRA, but that is a transitory state. It's the long run that matters, not the blips.
If it's true that we are here to help others, then what exactly are the others here for?

The NRA is " the Army we've got", we need to fight with them and push the NRA to improve. I agree with Pete Davis , LR1955 and Nuggin Futz.
