Grendel Pistol Build v2.0

I completed this build last January, however I wasn't satisfied with the accuracy or ergonomics. So I made some changes:

The original Rainier Arms UltraMatch barrel shot OK, 1.5 MOA groups with handloads to around 2 MOA with Hornady American Gunner. Not what I expected from a barrel advertised to outshoot any similar priced barrel or money back. So I returned it to Rainier Arms and they made good on their warranty by giving me a full refund, no questions asked. I replaced it with a 12.25 inch Bartlein from Precision Firearms, my groups shrank to half the size of the original barrel.

I also replaced the SBA3 brace and receiver extension with a Phase 5 Hex-2 rifle length tube and Tailhook Mod 1 brace. I added a foam cover for a comfortable cheek weld.

I also replaced the Atibal xp8 with an Atibal xs 1-10x30. Better glass and the extra magnification is helpful for my old eyes.

I'm now so happy with this build, I had to show it off again :o

Looks really good! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a muzzle device like the one on your pistol. Care to share what muzzle device your using?

It's a linear comp in Flame Anodized Titanium from Venom Defense & Design. Unfortunately, they stopped making the 5/8x24 version I used for this build.

Thanks, just curious. There are so many new products for the AR-15 I find it difficult to keep up with the new stuff which might work with the 6.5 Grendel.

Very nice weapon, I like it! I’d also like a review of the Atibal xs 1-10x30 please. Specifically, how’s the glass clarity, low light performance, turret tracking?

Atibal xs 1-10x30

This is the SFP version with the Christmas tree reticle. I was able to get in on the pre-order deal which included a free Bobro QD 35mm mount. ED Glass is clear enough for my eyes even at 10x. The turrets feel good, clicks are easily heard and lock when pushed down. I've only had it out once to zero and shoot some 100 yd groups, so it's too soon to comment on tracking or low light performance.
