Another reason to thank President Trump

There is no, “He’s a totally evil person!” or, “He’s the techno messiah!” when you look at the totality of his life. He did things for the world that affect us right now even in the ability to communicate this way, and also did some things with how he treated other people that actually are reprehensible.

And there you go. Thus, is the summation of most all of mankind.

Mhan7 Wrote:You were right - we don't know each other. But me "hating" something, by default, has no correlation to my level of investment. Aim higher. Conversely, the things we hate the most are often the things that we've invested the most in, that occupied far too much of our life. You can question whatever you like. Although if you were really asking, and not just making that statement, those questions would produce something fruitful. If we're really being honest, you're just saying your piece.

The difference with myself - and I don't speak for you or others, but I strongly suspect, based on experience - is that I could look past something about you that I personally loathe, and accept it as part of your person or character. I could even still be friends with a person whom I vehemently disagree with. ("Christians" have a parallel concept - "hate the sin, love the sinner") It's all about how one conducts themselves. If you make it a point, every time I'm around you, to pester me with what's important to you, while allowing me no quarter, then we're not going to be good. Disagree with me all day, ok, so long as we're still having a conversation, and you haven't just decided that you're always right. Being able to operate in mixed company is the hallmark of *truly* intelligent people, and that's where I prefer to operate. Having open door conversations, are also the way to find truth and workable solutions on complex subjects - when such a thing is important to people. And believe me, I understand that to most people it's not. Most of us just want things the same, in perpetuity, regardless of how little sense it may make, in the face of other, unavoidable changes. It's the basic recipe for conflict.

I may not be a "patriot" - in the sense that I don't have a blind loyalty, and I refuse to agree out of a false sense of responsibility - but I do my part in the machine that makes up the collective. We're not all meant to be soldiers, nor doctors, nor businessmen, nor ditch diggers. You served in the military. Great. That doesn't mean that you have the whole picture. I don't have it either. My point with travel, was that I want to understand my world as it is - not how I'm told to believe that it is. As Americans, who live inside broad borders, we are EXTREMELY myopic. I've been to tens of countries on 4 continents. You wear your uniform as a source of pride, I wear my personal accomplishments as a sense of pride. My #1 accomplishment - I am SELF MADE, having been born into poor white trash, in the most central parts of a vast continent. So you'll excuse me when I hold people to a high standard.

I'm not here to get into any arguments with people about what certain things mean to them. If your military service meant that much to you, that's a settled matter, right there. We're all on a different path in life. If that's your purpose, and your realization, so be it. Mine isn't. And mine is, obviously, far more important to ME. So with that being said, no incongruent comparisons will be forthcoming.

I totally agree, we are all on a different path, I don't have a "blind loyality" yet take my oath, be it a hand shake, a raising of my right hand, or a promise given most seriously. As such you have every right to feel, think, or act anyway you choose so long as it doesn't infringe on anyone else's right to do likewise.
Have a great day.

You're right - but please bear in mind, that the very act of me having my principles, values, etc, and living my life according to them, does not, by default, constitute "infringement" - even if they run contrary to someone else's. I do not think this way for myself, nor do I think that way for others. I'm perfectly content to let you be you, even in cases where I don't agree. I think that as a soldier, you would agree that this is the very substance of liberty.

Do not mistake what I say. What is "blind loyalty" to me, may be revelation to you. That's for you to understand for yourself, and not to try to convince the uninitiated. For me to expect you to think as I do, would be to demand the same thing that I decry, and thus, make me a hypocrite. Point being - I'll be me, you be you. We will both operate from our own points of view, and we can have a truce that preserves a basic respect, which in turn, allows us to agree more strongly, on something else, some other day. Or we can just take the path of least resistance, and burn it all down right away. One of these is my way, the other is not. But along the way, if either of us recognizes an error in our thinking or modus operandi, surely conscience dictates that we self-correct... (or so I believe)

Don't worry about me han, I don't have any time for bandying back and forth with an obviously argumentative-just for the sake of it guy (or girl, or whatever) troll. Others can carry on and that's fine, I'll stick to the be thankful for Trump theme. And I don't personally care what you or anyone else thinks about my views.

I like President Trump a lot and am grateful for all he's done for this country. I'm glad he kept Hillary out of the WH. I believe he's done a lot to fight the China-virus, which by the way began in Wuhan. I know hidinbidin won't do diddly for this country except for raising everyone's taxes and allowing his drug-hooked boy to make some more billion$$ for their (crime) family from foreign sources. If he could get that much from selling access to the VP office, who knows how much more he'll get selling access to the Oval Office.

Just one point on the Wuhan virus - and that is, the masks/distancing etc were never intended to stop the virus but to slow it down so hospital and health facilities would not be overwhelmed. And that it did. However the never-happy's, ie, Dems/leftists/marxists, twisted it into "O we need this to stop the virus!!!" It is a control-dictator-play on their part to say this. That was never the plan; slow it down, buy some time to get therapeutics and vaccines and figure out how to beat it. And by Golly!!!!! The Trump administration has done just that by mobilizing American resources!!!! Let's see: did any Muslim country figure any of this out? No. Did Russia figure this out? No. Did China figure this out and offer it to the world? Did anyone besides USA figure it all out? In a word, No. Now hidinbidin wouldn't even come close -- witness his and Bamster's response to the Swine flu epidemic under their watch. What was it - a million dead before they even lifted a finger??

Yes, thanks to our President he led all of this effort. I'm proud of him, and proud of our country -- and not "for the first time..."!!!

I travelled the world too, some military and some on business. There's no place like this good old USA and if the libs/leftists/marxists/blame'merica-firsters (I am old enough to have seen them all and there isn't a dime's worth of difference) have their way they will destroy all of this; your world too by the way.

He has done more to protect the 2A and the 1A and all the others than any President since Reagan. Now that the marxists feel safe in attacking the 2A see how they have quickly pivoted to the 1A as well. Any other rights given us will fall as soon as they can get totally away from going by rule of law... ie, their so-called social justice (which is neither social nor justice... socialist maybe, totalitarian definitely), so-called reparations, mob-rule... etc etc. I am thankful that President Trump and his administration has fought against all of that.

So we'll see how things go but I'm not holding any good expectations for our country's future if these Dem/lib/marxist loonies get control.

Yes a thousand times: Thank you President Trump for all you've done. We still need to drain that swamp.

Most of what you wrote isn't worthy of a reply, if we're being honest. But... you DO realize that the president has no real power to single-handedly protect the constitution, right? I realize that you've just explained to everyone how much age and wisdom you have. But remember back to American government class... 535 members of Congress and Senate decide the laws, and 9 members of the Supreme Court interpret them.

You're telling me that one man, with one tie-breaking vote, is saving the entire nation? Are you REALLY sure that's how it works? From what I recall, that one man didn't have too many friends in either of the other branches of government.

I don't know, man. I think you might be a little confused about how it all works... It seems to me that the 2A salvation comes from one of the most unsavory places - and that's the NRA lobby. You can go ahead and tell me I'm wrong. I'm sure you will.

It's a convenient story, because it catches a whole lot of people, and helps package the "culture war" narrative. For the record, there is a culture war. But I don't think that it's very well understood by the vocal majority of the proponents of all things that are purportedly under attack. For my part, I can't stand the Puritan notions that we've been burdened with for 300 years. I love sex and have no hang ups about nudity. Unashamed. I don't have any problem with people who practice Christianity - so long as they don't get carried away on that whole notion of the US being a "Chrsitian Nation." It's not, and never was. It was a prevailing cultural trait, to be sure. But it was not built into our government. Just like it was never coded into our Constitution that blacks or women could not vote. These are inferences that are drawn by interested parties, and have had to be corrected over time, and with much suffering.

The second part is just ridiculous. Rushing to the defense of the Capitalist in Chief, while suggesting that corporate America is fomenting a fascist mutiny. It just doesn't make sense. Modern capitalism works best, when the "shareholder" and their venture Capitalist slaves, can use up resources and labor, leverage the collective power of the consumer/worker, and spit them out, when a cheaper, and more able bodied work force becomes available. Capitalism is absolutely fantastic, when tempered with responsible benevolence, and absolutely terrible when oppressive, when it's overtaken by those who place short term gain, over long term sustainability, and the health of a nation. If you haven't known what it's like to lose a pension, be laid off after double digit years of service, or see an employee owned company divested and IPO'ed by an "investment group", then please don't bother to respond. I will assure at that point, that you have no clue what you're talking about.

You have really got to start getting out more. These theories work well from a rural-centric world view. But when you actually understand how the world works from both points of view, it really sounds dumb. I grew up on a farm, and worked my way through higher education. I have, in all probability, seen more of the world than about 90% of the non-military members who participate in this forum. I did it all on my own dime. These things that you are saying right now, remind me of the people that I left behind, who have never been more than about 200 miles from where they were born.

No, I didn't. I just proved that you can't play well with others. I despise the very notion of religions, in general, and yet I continue to operate functionally (and politely) in a society that is open to all of them. Not sure where your confusion comes from. One of the fundamental ground rules of living in a free society, is that people are different, and they are afforded the privilege of being so. Having certain rights, does not obligate me to practice any of them - and certainly not to agree with anyone who does differently.

Do you think that I need to tell you that I "love" Christianity, to be "worthy"? What would you call a person who mandates such things... Hmmm...

You were given intelligence at least on par with the great apes, and that's the best you can do with it? That's disappointing.

I have to say, I have always been under the illusion that we were much healthier, under "The Great American Experiment" of Republican Democracy. It's responses like this that have me absolutely convinced that we are actually much closer to the movie, "Idiocracy". This makes me a little nervous, because I don't think that you'd know how to debate - much less respond - to an actual Marxist, if you met one. I've seen people with answer like this try. It usually ends up with them getting frustrated, and starting a physical fight.

One of the mods did drop you some worthwhile clues, on how to engage the brain, before the mouth. Clearly, no heed was paid.

I will be happy to stay on topic. The topic is "Another Reason to Thank President Trump". I assume that as long as I'm on topic, disagreement will be no problem. Is that correct? I also assume that anything that touches on 2A would be considered relevant. Is that correct?

Just want to make sure I understand the rules.

The one thing I can say about leftists is they are predictable.

Someone who uses such scholarly language doesn't understand what "no debate, no discussion" means?

Let me give you some time to figure it out.

Fox,

I normally stay out of 2A but this comment takes the cake.

If you took a break from the jingoism would you be prepared to accept there are other countries that have "figured it out"? That there are other vaccines out there being produced and trialled by other countries (at least 150 other vaccines). And that there are other countries and governments that have been more successful in protecting their citizens? Trump may have been good in other ways but the handling of Covid has not been his finest hour.

Klem:

What countries have developed their own vaccine and distributed it to the citizens as of yet? I haven't heard of any.

As for handling the virus. Trump was ridiculed by the left and media for closing off travel to China and then Europe. Absolutely vilified. Luckily he did so because if he had followed the lead of the leftists and media in the USA and abroad, we would be looking at several million dead and a totally destroyed economy. Probably a civil war too.

As for Trump intervening with the affairs of individual states -- sorry but that is against the law. The Governors are totally responsible for what happens in their states and have been handling the Covid 19 crisis since it started. Trump is prohibited by law from taking control of a state. And I am pretty happy to have that buffer. When some Governors didn't do enough and the number of Covid cases skyrocketed in their states, Trump threatened to intervene. Sorry -- against the law here and he was ridiculed and vilified by the media and those Governors for even implying he would take charge of their states to get the Covid thing under control.

Not a good idea to compare the USA to other countries in terms of anything. Few are as big, have as big a population, have as diverse a culture and population, have a Federalist system of government, have a Constitution with the same Bill of Rights, have the same economic status, same problems, and the same motivations. People who are used to being told what to do by their political leaders tend to do what ever they are told to do. Americans won't. Our culture is that if we think something is stupid, we probably won't obey. And that goes as much for the leftists as the Americans.

Russia has started mass vaccinations in Moscow using the Sputnik V vaccine. Putin ordered it three days ago.

It's not that they came up with a vaccine first, it's more that they have abbreviated the safety testing that other countries insist on doing. It's a risk they deem acceptable and a reflection of the sort of society they are. If people come down with strange side effects it will be a disaster. If not, they will have saved a few lives by going early.

Greyfox was comparing Trump's Covid credentials with the rest of the world and getting nationalistic at the same time. I look at Trump's acts and omissions and the state of play currently in the US and look at what our leaders have done here in Australia and New Zealand - the difference is stark. Our Prime Minister, similarly has to deal with State Premiers from different political parties and they don't always see eye to eye, but they get along and have a modicum of respect for each other. It has worked so far. For it to work there must also be a common sense of community discipline and subordination for the common good. Again, we are lucky in that respect. The virus keeps coming in but is luckily being caught at the border. Financially, we are hurting like everyone else, but at least we don't have the virus as well.

By all means love Trump to death, he's your President.

You can not compare Australia with the USA because there is no comparison. Not in political structure, social structure, ethnic and religious diversity, and economics. Not in geography and particularly borders. Not in motivation, interests, or much of anything else.

If I were a member of a shooting and firearms web site based in Australia, I would never tell their members that their leadership is corrupt or incompetent. And most certainly would never compare their political system and culture to ours and end up saying ours is better because we are X, Y or Z .

Enough said. If you want to immigrate here and become a citizen, go for it and once you are a citizen you can hammer our President and system as much as you want.

If not, let me ask that you refrain from making further comments about our President.

55, let's clarify something please. Do I have the same posting privileges as everyone else or not?

The thread is about Donald Trump and as a long term member I want to contribute. I don't think there's any doubt I love guns so there's no 5th column mischievousness about.

For the record...Feel free to have a go at Scott Morrison or Jacinta Adern. They don't need my help protecting their reputations and nor is it my place. I believe in free speech.

What is the case fatality rate of each nation, and where does the US stand on that list compared to everyone else?

Which Nation tests more than any other nation?

Which nations lie about their numbers, execute and incinerate the bodies of whistleblowers, while claiming they have fewer cases and purport to be a world model?

Which highly-developed nations in Europe have the highest infection and death rates?

Australia’s case fatality rate is 3.2% at 21st highest in the world, whereas the US’s is 1.9% and 77th.

That means Australia has the 3rd highest case fatality rate of all the G20 nations.

Even with China’s fake numbers, they still list as the 9th highest fatality rate at 5.1%. Given that they lie about everything, their ranking is most likely much closer to the top, but not quantifiable.

Yemen and Mexico are #1 and #2 for case fatality rates.

If you look down the list for the US, you’ll breeze over it unless you filter for it.

Looking at the more developed nations for case fatality rates:

UK is 16th highest for case fatality rate at 3.6%.

Italy is 17th at 3.5%.

Australia 21st at 3.2%

Canada is 28th at 3.0%

Belgium is 29th at 2.9%.

Ireland is 35th at 2.8%.

Spain is 39th at 2.7%.

Greece is 48th at 2.6%.

Sweden is 50th at 2.5%. (So Sweden with their relaxed and highly-criticized COVID-19 response is doing better than all of the above developed nations in case fatality rate.)

France is 54th at 2.4%.

United States is 77th at 1.9%.

Poland is 78th at 1.9%.

But the media narrative is that Trump has totally mismanaged the US’s response to COVID-19. When you look at the raw numbers, an extremely opposite picture appears.

Keep in mind that the US is the 3rd-largest population in the world, with far greater trans-oceanic incidence of travel per capita than any of the top 10 populations in the world, as well as extremely high rates of domestic air and land travel, with the most vast network of airports and highways of any nation on earth.

The United States has more airports than the next 10 highest nations combined.

Yet our COVID-19 case fatality rate is 77th in the world and Donald Trump should be ridiculed for this because.....?

It makes no sense.

Maybe presstitutes are manipulating data to only focus on overall case count, rather than per capita figures. Since the US is the 3rd largest population in the world, of course you will see much higher numbers than any nation in Europe, but the survivability in the US is better than at least 10 of the G20 nations, while the remaining 10 that have lower case fatality rates have much smaller populations and are within a standard deviation of the US (1.9% vs 1.7%, 1.6%, 1.5%, 1.4%, etc.)

If anything, the US should be looked at as a model for being the 3rd highest population in the world, with the 77th position for case fatality rate. That is an amazing statistic in and of itself really.

Oh wait. It does not fit the narrative that Orange Man Bad!, therefore it will never see the light of day in the global disinformation fear campaign.

Normally I would say that the US’s performance in this regard can’t be attributed to one person, and is more indicative of a far superior medical infrastructure, higher per capita trauma centers and hospitals with world-class respiratory distress ICUs, and higher standards of living with much of the Nation having a lot of space in-between people.

However, we have to consider Trump’s role in really pushing to get as many resources to States for excess capacity (that has rarely been used), more ventilators, and more drug treatments. What role does that play in the US’s extremely low case fatality rate?

I did not copy and paste this from somewhere. I just looked up the statistics asking basic questions, knowing the general layout of G20 nations, Europe, Australia, Japan, etc.

52, great post. I knew our covid numbers were being misrepresented, but never thought it was to that extent.

Let’s not forget, the radical left controls the media in the United States, and have a long standing tradition of creating emergencies to cause panic, and create an opportunity to push legislation that would never otherwise be considered. They have used a global pandemic to push their positions in a way we’ve never seen before. On top of causing/allowing riots and violent protests, they are monetizing covid in the hospitals to the tune of thousands of dollars for a positive test, and tens of thousands of dollars for a covid death. While some agendas are saved by under reporting covid deaths, others are empowered with over reporting. If we actually knew the death rate of covid patients, I think we would be surprised indeed.

To our members in other countries: things look bad from the outside. We know. Our media is incredibly dishonest and one sided. They show zero regard for truth in reporting, in order to push their socialist/Marxist agenda.
