There are some serach engines, each one however seems to search different sites.
Gunwatcher,
ammoseek (the guns portion, a tab to the right on the web page).
Gallery of guns.

One or two of them showed some CZ's when I was looking, maybe also Bud's, try there.

Find a CZ dealer in your area and order one. I got mine in a week.~Riuma

PS: The Fort, in Big Timber, Montana has CZ Grendels on the shelf. Right across the road from C. Sharps Arms. Maybe they would ship?

I have varmint/bull barrels on both CZ's and Howa. On these mini-action rifles the "Bull" barrels aren't even close to the barrel dimensions/thickness that you probably used to seeing on a standard full size action. They aren't much heavier then a mid-weight sporter profile.... somewhere in the middle of a Sporter and Remington Sendero/Varmint profile. There is marginal weight increase to this profile compared to a Sporter. I would go with this heavier profile just for ability to shoot a few more shots before barrel really heats up. Also, if you might use a suppressor of muzzle break then you will need the extra thickness just to cut the threads.

There was a couple of CZ 527 6.5 Grendel Americans on Gunbroker a couple of days ago. Prices were reflective of these times we’re in though.

Happy new year 65ers I’m listening to the neighbors empty there guns ////// nope not me it’s to hard to come by i think there over a couple hundred dollars by now

Will have to put off my GRENDELMASTER on hold a while.I was checking with local gun dealers for something to build the 6.5 g. And seen a Remington 870 20ga. Wingmaster NIB had to get it since I always wanted one to add to my 410.16, 12 ga. Remingtons (Since I’m a die hard rabbit hunter first)

I seen a Ruger American in 300 blk. out on the rack Not to bad for the price an compact
I see some old threads on the Ruger in 6.5 G.
See what would fit my needs but I like the looks of the wood sporter cz 527 and there’s some nice custom lite howa’s Project’ s on here
ill do some reading on It Pro an cons -&$@!

////////Till I build my toy fund back up ////////

But what I’m wanting to have for next deer season is a rifle in 6.5 g with Leupold fx- 6 Short barrel around 6 1/2 lb. at most (it will be for slipping thought swamps jump shooting hogs and deer) on a welder’s budget

Ruger ranch would be just over 7 lbs scoped with fx 6x36 in weaver lows and run the c-products 7.62x39 10 round mags, accurate and needs no custom work or parts

I know I have one set up exactly like this and it’s my main now, sold one Howa and my Cz. My last howa is getting investment, it already has slabbed action and fluted bolt, 22” barrel getting cut back to 18.5” as we spea and will order the Pendleton stock, hinged floor pate kit and timney trigger from Wayne at Oregun very soon. Wearing a leupold 36mm or less in Talley low rings it will be in the low 5 lb range all up. It may bark a bit as there’s no doubt the Ruger ranch lets you know you’re shooting a real gun when you pull the trigger so taking a couple lbs off that should be interesting.

The Howa may turn into a sweetheart but it’s going to cost triple the ranch in money and time to get it done right. Likely won’t be any more accurate either. But I’ll try it out but if it can’t justify itself over the ranch to me then it will get sold like the amazing cz carbon barrel I also built thinking it would be what I wanted.

Stinky Yot, like the sound of your build at 5lb. When your done I would like to know what it cost to get it feather lite. Thats a pound liter than I would be hoping to achieve.
Not in to heavy target barrels but I have a 25-06 Remington sendero and 308 Remington sps for shooting out of blinds on pipelines
I like to stalk an spot 5lbs.Would be perfect if you can make it at less than half the cost of a new Ultra lite arms.

I repeat: The Fort, in Big Timber, Montana has the 6.5 Grendel American in Rustic and Walnut. Sporter weight. The Rustic (which I like the looks of) is the same $650 it has been for the last year. Walnut $50 more. They will ship. I passed through there yesterday afternoon and talked to the sales clerk, saw the rifles in the rack. They have the best collection of CZ rifles anywhere in Montana, I think. When you get our finances back on track, there's your CZ Grendel.~Riuma

PS: My hunting rifle is a 6.5 CZ American with a 2- 7X Leupold on top. Super rig. Light and pin-point accurate....

Riuma, thanks for the information I might need it when I get my funds back up.
I’ve never had to order a gun this will probably be the first time as we have numerous gun dealers in our area and they are usually loaded down with gun racks of everything under the sun.
Except for now they hardly have any guns and most are in oddball calibers
This project will definitely have to be ordered I’m still Not sure what action i will use I will need it lite and which will be easier to Machine it.

The CZ action is lighter than the Howa Mini.

With a Claw sling, a 2-7 Leupold (with Leupold rings) and a loaded magazine, my CZ American weighs 7 pounds 6 ounces. (On the hoof, so to speak!) It is one of the handiest hunting rifles I have owned -and one of the most accurate. Kills deer like the Hand of the Almighty. ~Riuma

Riuma, Is that with the factory Wood Sporter stock and what does the stock that you have on there now weighs.

I could Hollow out under the butt stock — barrel 19” would want to lose almost a pound Maybe cut down magazine just kicking things around looking at other peoples posts see a lot of good ideas

WHAT EVER I BUILD IF IT DOES NOT MAKE WEIGHT (6lb.8oz SCOPED AND LOADED) IIIIITT’S GONE

No more packing dead weight I’m getting old

That is with the factory stock. I haven't a clue what it weighs alone. I shoot off hand most of the time. I'm not certain that I (personally) would mess with the point and balance of this rifle for the sake of a few ounces. ~Riuma

You can now buy from CZ a flush mount magazine (3 rounds). I just weighed a 5-round and 3-round magazine (.223 Rem) and the weight savings is 0.5oz. The Grendel magazine has a tad more metal for the extra case width... so maybe you save 0.7oz. Honestly, the biggest weight savings you will achieve is to start shedding steel as in cut the barrel down to 18". I have the factory kevlar stocks that HS Precision and B&C made for CZ, and I believe they probably weigh as much or more than the wood stock.

Comparatively speaking the CZ barrel profiles are very slim profiles as compared to what you normally expect out of a standard action Rem/Savage/ Browning, etc. There isn't much there to think about fluting. You can either go really short 16"-18" or spend some money chasing carbon fiber barrel or a titanium barrel for $800 - +$1K before gunsmithing.

Oso, the sporter stock is nice an feel about like a 22 bolt action stock. the short mag would help too.

CZ does not supply 3 round magazines for the 6.5 Grendel/7.62x39. Only 223 at the moment.~Riuma

Fair point... I hadn't even though about that. I actually haven't held a CZ in 6.5 Grendel. I've held/owned just about every configuration chambered in .223 or 300BO, but never bothered with the 7.62x39 or 6.5 Grendel. CZ's are rare birds to find in any gunstore in Texas. Do you think that a magazine modification (cut the mag down) would work on the Grendel like what was done to the .223 Magazines before CZ started offering the factory 3-rounder?
