Grass Roots
#1
I'm starting this thread to evaluate interest and discussion on how to form a pro 2nd Amendment defense local group.
Unlike the NRA, the group I would like to join would have group firearm training on how to protect ourselves in the event of anarchy, lawlessness, riots, civil unrest, looting, tyranny, and how to protect our neighborhoods.

What would you like to see as it's mission statement?
What core values and standards would you like to see as a founding creed?
What kind of organization structure do you think would be needed?
What legal precautions should be incorporated?
What firearms training would you like to have practiced?
Got a cool name for the group?

As a example of what has worked in the past as far a grass root organizations go check out this link. https://www.teapartypatriots.org/archive/get-started/

If something like this exists elsewhere, post it. I'd hate to reinvent the wheellock!

Maybe not exactly what you're looking for, but close. Ammon Bundy has helped to launch a national organization, down to the local level, called Peoplesrights. Rather than regurgitating all the information contained on the website, you can visit Peoplesrights.org
For disclosure, I am a registered member. We held our first meet and greet for area 9 in Colorado a little over a week ago. I passed out flyers for our local range and local shooting clubs where firearms training can be obtained for the 13 participants who showed up. We are currently focused on growing our numbers. Take a peek, see what you think. Neighbors helping neighbors.

Wethepeople, I looked at the site and liked what I saw. Can you tell me more about Peoplesrights looking from the inside? A short version of what to expect after you join? What kind of activities have you done?

Lemonaid, in our first area meeting, it was apparent this group isn't interested in just holding meetings. We are currently working to identify where and what actionable responses can be taken. There are certainly no shortages of gov't or private entities stomping on people's rights.
Like I stated, we just started getting to know one another, building trust and figuring out where to go from here.
My initial impression is peoplesrights State and Area Assistants will determine how effective each local chapter is. Strong leadership is going to be key. State and Area Assistants are in a unique position to setup events and set the agenda for their specific State and Areas. I know my State Reps are actively seeking more area assistants.
I would encourage you, or anyone else, to register on the site and use the communication tools provided to contact your State and Area Assistants , introduce yourself and find out what's going on in your specific region. There are also short vids on the site explaining the roles of State and Area Assistants for those interested.
I wish I could tell you more but the organization is only in its infancy. Though I have been told, some areas have as many as 800 members already.

In the Bundy group in Oregon, the lead firearms trainer among one of the “militia groups” was a German national from the German intelligence service, pretending to be a US National and veteran.

Remember when the FBI gunned down LaVoy Finicum in Oregon?

They had shot at the truck earlier when they were driving on the road.

FBI claimed they never fired any shots, but it was learned that one of them had, then lied about it in his report.

He was acquitted of course.

You have to be very careful about setting up organizations that the Feds will usually plant their own agent provocateurs in.

We had a guy around here claiming all kinds of BS, trying to recruit people into some kind of cell where they would do sabotage and such.

He got called out and disappeared.

I first ran into him at a gun show.

Since FBI and other secret police from foreign countries collaborate on different investigations in the normal course of their work, they also saw an opportunity to conduct illegal acts of entrapment and agent provacateuring where they can use foreign nationals, who then head back home once the “sting” is launched.

They’ve been doing things like this for decades, often with enemies of the US who are actual terrorist cells as well.

It’s really best to know your family and neighbors as part of your standard neighborhood watch group.

Get to know your local sheriff and find out where exactly they stand on the Constitution.

Also remember that the ATF entrapped Randy Weaver so they could get him to be an informant on some "white supremacist" organization up in Idaho that was filled with other Federal and State LEOs.

They figured that since he had been in Army Special Forces back in the day, he would be a perfect candidate for doing some CI work for them.

They first approached him and asked outright, which he declined.

Then they got one of his neighbors to ask him to cut down a shotgun barrel for him, which he refused until they kept upping the price.

As soon as he cut the barrel for the “friend”, he was arrested and told they didn’t care about the firearms charges, which would just “go away”. They really wanted him to report on the ongoings inside the club or group where the main targets were of their “investigation”.

They couldn’t use any region 10 Federal agents because they all worked out of the same buildings and knew each other from the same circles at work, or so their story went.

In the end, US Marshalls went in playing commando all dressed in tac gear and woodland BDUs, Colt 9mm SMGs, shot his dog, shot his son in the back, then called in for help as one of their agents died when the son returned fire into the woods at where muzzle flashes came before the family dog was slain.

FBI Hostage Rescue Team came in with a really bad ROE of “shoot to kill any armed adult on-site”, and Lon Horiuchi put his crosshairs on Randy Weaver’s wife’s head while she was carrying her 10-month old daughter, and canoed her skull. They shot Weaver in the chest/shoulder, as well as his friend.

The family congregated in the cabin, daring not to raise their heads, while watching Vicki Weaver’s blood flow out all over the floor, knowing that they were going to die.

A retired SF Colonel deescalated the situation by going on-site and telling the FBI HRT that he would bring Weaver out peacefully.

Whole thing would have ended in them being slaughtered had that not happened, with obedient presstitutes reporting “white supremacist arms dealers taken out by brave FBI after killing Federal Marshall”.

The moment you start organizing outside of your neighborhood, you will be labeled “anti-government extremists”.

You could have over a dozen black members of your group like the Branch Davidians did at Waco, and it won’t matter.

That will never see the light of day. You are simply "white extremists who hate the government", are "holocaust deniers", whatever.

What’s that? You never knew there were over a dozen black Branch Davidians at Waco?

After the FBI pumped acetylene gas and CS into the building, the tossed incendiaries into it while gunning down anyone trying to run out, everyone turned black.

LRRPF52, your words of caution are noted and given weight. The choices look bad, depend on your neighbors you don't know if they will or can work together with no training or organization, framework or support against a trained unit like the ATF (If things go way bad) or Join some group that will make you a target for the same treatment you want to prevent.
Can you think of some vetting method to ease the mind that an organization is legit?
Oh, might have a good idea. Call the group "Black Lives Matter" and you will be left alone, have media support, big Lib money given. Basically get out of jail free cards for all.

The main point is that once you separate yourself from your family and neighbors, the people who control information can label you however they want.

They can and will accuse you of things that you aren’t guilty of, and use those accusations to justify LE to target you.

The police don’t know what anyone is doing and you don’t want their first encounter with you to be, “We have a warrant for XYZ for Billy B. Bumrump militia member engaged in gun crimes, anti-government sentiment, etc.”

And for those who think this was all in the past, that wouldn’t happen again, guess who the US Attorney General was during the Weaver family raids? Guess who defended the actions of the FBI sniper who shot Vicky Weaver through her head?

From my observation thus far, I think peoplesrights is organizing as a neighborhood watch group of sorts. That may be a good description.
LRRPF52 has stated many of the concerns you should be aware of. As a result of my own experience, those concerns can't be overstated.
I think this is the beauty of PRs. Neighbors aiding neighbors and networking with one another, without a hierarchy to speak of.

WTP:

So, you are putting faith in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as certified by the United Nations? Didn't see anything about the right to self defense and we all know the intent of the UN when it comes to our Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

The organization is HQ'd in Cameroon?

Americans are joining an organization whose foundation is based on UN speak, and whose leadership is located in a country whose government is the same type that we overthrew with our Revolution?

Do I have the right organization?

LR55, I don't put faith in the UN or its declarations and wouldn't knowingly belong to a group that does.
As far as I know, the organization was launched from Idaho and has no relationship to the organization in Cameroon you reference. I will speak to my State and Area assistants to find out specifically if what you asked is factual. I do know one of the area assistants here has spoken to Ammon Bundy directly before he became involved, is a "Constitutional Lawyer" according to his statements at our initial meet and greet. I would feel awful foolish if I am being duped.
I am certain about one thing, every person in the room supported the right to self defense, the 2A and several veterans were in attendance.
You could always gain access to the site and see for yourself. There are communication tools on the site to contact State and Area Assistants. I will perform additional due diligence on my own to see if there is any affiliation with the UN or group headquartered in Cameroon, though I find it unlikely to be the same organization.

Just a note that if someone on the forum searches under 'Peoplesrights' they will be linked to the one HQ'd in Cameroon and that uses the UN declarations as their foundation.

So, is Ammon related to Ted by any chance? He, he.

Oh yes, if your organization does stage a protest or march, you will be violently attacked by BLM and ANTIFA. Just saying.

As long as people go to peoplesrights.org, they will go to the right website. You will see a link or a message to text "rights" to 80123 if my memory serves. That will get you an access code to enter the full site.
No marches or protests are scheduled to my knowledge. It's more like a rapid response team to challenge control freaks attempting to violate the rights of others. I live in a predominantly conservative district. One thing we discussed was the position our County Sheriff holds with regard to 2A sanctuary status and red flag laws. He seems to be a decent Sheriff in that regard but may need his feet held to the fire from time to time.
Took me a minute to catch the Ted Bundy reference. I'm pretty sure Ted won't be attending any meetings any time soon, even if he was related. LOL.
BLM/Antifa would be making a huge mistake if they attack anyone participating in a legal march or protest in this neck of the woods.

That other website from Cameroon is peoplerights... ie, singular "people", whereas WTP's site is plural. Both are .org.

Thanks grayfox. Not being familiar with the other site, appreciate the catch. We're a collective of like minded neighbors trying to help one another. I'm certain the organization will be demonized by the press and other commies.

So, suppose alike minded friends and neighbors agree to train for numerous "Bad Things", what training would you want prioritized?

Re-phrase: it takes a group of good guys with grit and determination... and some accessories...

off top of my head...
First things:
1. communication channel/s and signals, and comm-sig practice, like the ham radio/local emergency volunteers do.
2. several levels of response, kind of like defcon 1-4...
3. a few "formations" - like when you can get to the property being targeted, and when you can't but can get nearby.
4. what is makeup of your "ready kit", which by the way ought to include more than just arms, like non-lethal/self defense items... like - i don't know - deer scent spray cans, stink sprays, mace sprays, self-protection baton, a cheap cell phone/camera that you can turn on at moment's notice... somebody (or everyone) has some first aid stuff... a helmet? (mobs are starting to use bricks and stones, etc)

Always have some duplicate items, as backups. Always have a plan "B".

Who's on lookout, ie the duty nhd-watch person...

practice identifying who the leader(s) might be... maybe the ones with the megaphone? crowd control imo, begins with leaders-control.

just some brainstorming ideas. [Definitely not a master of this stuff.]

I think that's a great question Lemonaid.
First off, as simple as it sounds, people need to understand their rights. Secondly, I don't like the idea of responding to a call for help where a bunch of people are armed with little or no training in gun safety, not intimately familiar with their firearm or some hothead Rambo wanna be.
After checking those boxes, meet up and offer instruction on drills specific to each individuals needs. I'm fortunate to have my own range, can teach gun safety, am familiar with various firearm platforms and know people whose experience far exceeds my own who can provide instruction to myself and others in tactics, strategies and discipline. Our small group had a couple vets with that kind of experience and in opsec, which was of concern to several in attendance.
I'm sure not the smartest guy in the room so look forward to hearing the responses to that question from the sages here.

There are several books, one of the most famous was written by a Swiss Army Officer. Dated, but full of good stuff that never goes out of date. Another is new and written by the same guy that wrote "Concrete Jungle". No one source will have all of the answers, only ideas for brainstorming purposes. A Gunny Highway said," we must improvise, adapt, overcome."

We are at a crossroads, it is up to us as whether or not our grandchildren live under Communism, or be free citizens? There are people who have no idea what socialism or communism is about. I have been asked numerous times, "how bad can it be?" I have went to college numerous times at numerous colleges where I had professors who were admittedly Communists. There is a forum member whose arguments follow hand in hand with what those professors tried to indoctrinate us students. Beware, the enemy is at the gates.
