You couldn't pay me enough too let go of my cz 527 American varmint grendel.

Thing is a straight up lazer and with my handloads I have produced several sub moa 5 shot groups at 900 yards.

The perfect grendel bolt action would be the howa action with the cz barrel, mag and trigger on it. That would be one sexy rifle too shoot.

Hokey Pokey, does this bottom metal use the CZ mag release? I assume it has to. I’m not familiar with the CZ, I know the Howa mag release sucks. If CZ mags become available, and the mag release agrees with me, I’m buying one.

It uses a CZ style side release, you can see it in the first post images.

I agree wit A5Blaster, the 527 Varmint is the cat's meow. My Grandfather always told me to beware of a man with only one gun. The CZ 527 Varmint is the gun to have. A year ago, with mine, I was able to out shoot 30 and 40 year olds at 300 yards. Not bad for a 76 year old cripple considering that some of them were using custom built rifles!

I have a 223 Varmint with original HS Kevlar Stock that shoots lights out. It was so good that I basically made a clone in 300BO back before CZ decided to start offering one. Mine has a Varmint profile barrel so plenty of room for threading and not that silly flange that the factory 300BO have on the sporter barrels.

All of the heartburn on the Howa Mini, which is now sunk cost... If I had just bought a CZ Grendel from the beginning.

I have given up my search for CZ527 mags for the time being. I have a notification set for email when they become available. I was thinking and I know this is a long shot due to the mag release position but could a bottom metal be made for Howa to accept AR mags?

I thought there was an Aussie company doing an AR conversion. But I can't find it now. The rifle had to be sent in for machining and the stock opened up for the magazine well. Probably too expensive after they started importing the DIP bottom metal.

Like hill37 said, there was an Aussie company doing it but it required machining the receiver to open up the bottom and modifying the stock. Not really a cost effective upgrade just to use AR magazines.

this conversion to cz magazine may be a hot ticket to cure the worst thing about these rifles, timney can cure the trigger, and bell and carlson and pendelton can cure the stock, mdt chassis of course will not work if wanting to use the cz mags but really the pendleton with this conversion and timney at 2.5 lbs with talley rings...hmmm, will be watching how this goes, well done

has anyone ever tried to see if a single-stack WASR 10 round mag would fit into the howa magwell? I wonder if they might fit when you just grind off the locking tabs for rocking it into an AK receiver.

I considered that option but felt that magazine was too bulky and didn't fit the aesthetic I was after, the CZ is trim and small comared to the Howa factory mag or the wasr-10 mag.

Found a couple of polymer 10 rounders online and ordered so I can play with it and see if they work. I’ve got an MDT chassis so hopefully with a little fiddling that might be a good substitute.

If they somehow fit with an MDT chassis, they should still work in a factory plastic stock right? Very eager to hear how that goes. I guess if they did fit, people would still complain that they're plastic mags... but at least we would finally have higher capacity. And presumably we'd know if metal ones would fit

well canadians will only likely get access to a 'pistol' labeled version of any ak or ar based magazines (stupid loophole i know) but that's what i have to get for my ranch grendels are the 10 round micro pistol labeled ar magazines in 7.62x39...i'm guessing no such animal exists with the wasr-10 mags...so my vote is stick with the CZ conversions
