HB vs #1 contour

Hello all,

I want to build a super lightweight Howa and was looking at getting the #1 contour barrel over the HB. Is the #1 hammer forged and accurate. Would this be a mistake? Ounces make pounds!

I have one with a pencil barrel, but I haven't shot it enough or done proper load workup to give you a fair accuracy report. Here's a few older threads on here to give you an idea.

Ive got the standard barrel model 4 shots into 10mm at 100m is good enough for me..

I have the 20" #1 barrel and it is a good shooter. Easily sub MOA but will heat up and move POI eventually. I can put 10 rounds into an inch or so normally. For hunting I couldn't ask for more.

I don't think you can get the #1 20" new anymore. I see that they are just making the 20"HB and the 22" #2.

Not stock. The barreled action is stock and shot the same in the factory stock but mine is in a Pendleton stock with Pendleton bottom metal, mounts and rings I had in my box, and a Leupold 3-9x33CDS VX2. Factory trigger adjusted to where I think it is perfect for me. It is less than 6lbs with sling and 3 rounds in the mag.

If you want light, buy the #2 and chop it down. You might want to keep the 22" for the extra velocity or chop it to 18" or 20" and have it fluted for a stiffer and lighter setup.
