For those wanting the bare minimum of overpenetration for indoor use at home--

I just ran across these: http://www.hornady.com/store/223-Rem-gr-NTX/

Hornady states 4000 fps in 24" barrels, but we'd obviously lose a bunch of it from an 11.5" tube. I imagine it'd still be rather explosive at close range though. I might get some to try just for the heck of it.

ETA: Oh, I almost forgot--- Being a lead free round it'd be so much safer for the environment. You'd hate to shoot, shovel, and shut up, and then have some poor possum dig up a two legged varmint and get lead poisoning.LOL Oh the horror! What if the possum died and got ate by a buzzard? J/K!

Interesting...btw, my Colt upper arrives tomorrow! And my Form 4 for YHM suppressor arrived at my FFL today!. Strange congruence of events!

I tried to get the headstamp in the photo, but this iphone can't seem to do it. Anywhoo, this stuff would have been perfect for what you intended. Hopefully the new Hornady will be a decent alternative.

Took her to the range today. Was getting just over 2800 fps with Hornady 53g V-Max (Superperformance). Swapped out full auto carrier, BCM bolt, H buffer into my pistol lower. She ran fine. Don't like the trigger (stock single stage)...will have to upgrade to Geissele SSA (to match all my other AR-15s). I also purchased the Aimpoint PRO from BCM. I like it, but must admit I prefer the EOTech's.

I've got 2 boxes of the stuff.. A co-worker buddy of mine picked them up somewhere, and after shooting one or two of them, thought I would like them and gave me the two boxes..

Never shot them out of an AR (or anything else I may add), but I would wonder if they would cycle the action..

It's been 5 months now on the Form 1...it took 7 months for the suppressor. If nothing else, the ATF teaches patience (grrrrr!)

TAC (or ACC) wasn't too bad...but MAC transport could drive a person insane!:p

You ain't kidding!LOL Langley was a good place to be deployed from. Fortunately they kept me on the move for the most part. Langley and Lackland are two good places to avoid.

Completely stupified would be a more apt description.LOL In the SAC world that I used to live in that kind of thing would have been impossible. To this day I still can't fathom how that was even remotely possible. It really is shocking that things have slipped so far. It also makes me seriously worry about what state of readiness we could actually be at, let alone keeping them secured. How far do we have to slip before a bent spear will become an empty quiver??? Surely General Lemay must be rolling over in his grave!!!

What happened to the Congressional Inquiry after 9/11 that pushed ATF to start moving NFA paperwork faster. From what I remember, it was down to 2 months wait. I think they need to pay back every licensee their $200, and shut the entire NFA paperwork program down. There are cases where they have lost people's paperwork, and tried them for violations, when the owners had the papers all along. "Not good enough! You're going to jail!" While they were caught recently in firearms technology branch doctoring their own paperwork by taking registered components from MAC-11's, and building M2 .50 BMG's from one pin in the MAC...he he. That's another scandal they're trying to keep under the rug.
