Howa mini - Grendel bolt-action for me

This is my new baby... howa mini action 20" heavy barrel, Boyd's pro varmint in coyote color laminate. I put a Buckmasters 4.5-14x40 SF on it and a voodoo MB. Breakin in progress. (ok the first pix of this one are on a reloading post but I put 'em here too just to follow the rules of the horde...)

Great looking rifle! I have my HB 20 on a black Pro Varmit. My barrel fits pretty tight on the factory Boyd.

Did you do any type bedding for the stock?

No bedding yet. My barrel also fits fairly tight but it is "dollar bill" free-floating. I've never done any bedding yet nor installed any pillars.

I glass bedded wit Miles Gilbert bedding kit and pillar bedded with adjustable pillars from Midway I believe. Finished, only to find I needed to remove material from my inletting to make it work correctly. But very pleased with the end result.

I did not bed mine either. I torqued the action bolts 35 in/lbs front and 30in/lbs rear. It's pretty snug.

I'm having some mag-feed problems with mine, probably due to not enough inletting... well that's a bit more expertise than I have, and it's taking away from my shooting... so I dropped it off at my GS, will probably wind up bedding it too. I noticed during one of the takedowns that the recoil lug doesn't fit up against the stock, there's a gap - which also lends me to think of bedding it.

You might measure the length of the pillars in the original stock and compare to new pillars for mag feeding problem.

I like the looks of that stock grayfox. I made a rhyme LoL. Thanks for pics, I will have to look into that stock for my Mini Howa.

It is an barrel/action-only purchase from Brownells. (which was ok b/c I didn't plan on keeping the factory one anyway).
