Has anyone tried this conversion? How do the mags feed?
I am hoping to hear that the cz mags work more reliably than the howa mags and that this DBM will eliminate accidental mag drops. Even using the DIP bottom metal and redesigned mag release, I still dropped a mag while shooting a deer during this season.
I really would like to try my mini in a PRS match just for fun, but I know the current mags and DBM would be a large problem when moving quickly.

I picked up the normal Jefferson Outdoors flush Obendorf style bottom metal and am quite pleased. For hunting, I've always been leery of a detachable magazine due to inadvertent loss. Murphy seems to camp out with me when I go hunting. Trying not to give him anymore opportunity than he already has. Also the flush bottom metal carries much more comfortably than a DBM does, since the magazine area is usually the area of the rifle's balance point and the flush bottom metal allows me to easily wrap my hand underneath the balance point. Unless you really want a DBM, consider the JO flush style setup. just a thought.

Jefferson Outdoors won't be making any of the flush style bottom metal in the foreseeable future 'cause he hasn't been able to source magazine springs for them. They won't start production again until they can find a spring provider. Oregunsmithing does have flat/flush bottom metal for mini Howa stocks.

The test rifles I used to design the CZ magazine conversion feed better with the CZ magazines than with the factory plastic mags. I do have a limited sample size of three test rifles and 6 magazines in 6.5 grendel and 7.62x39.
As to the issue of dropping magazines accidentally, I guess it's still possible but a whole lot less likely due to the release placed on the side.
Due to the hunting laws here in california, I prefer a detachable magazine for simplicity in unloading and reloading and the CZ magazines are much slimmer and easier to slip into a pocket.

I just now made up my first dummy handloads for the new Hornaday dies. Just did 4 with OaL from 2.16 thru 2.288. 2.288 did clear the CZ 527 magazine with very little extra room. All 4 rounds loaded smoothly with no hang-ups or balky/jerky loading. The mags do have a little wiggle when seated - perhaps from the way I installed the bottom metal. I went by the directions and did no adjustment or trial fitting. Just screwed it together and it ran as described.
I can't comment in the factory mags and bottom metal as I never tried them at all. The original plastic might have been OK but I too believe that Murphy lurks at every turn and I feel safer and more confident with the metal. I'm happy with my purchase.

The mags do have a little wiggle in the bottom metal to accommodate the small variations I noticed between magazines. When fully loaded and under pressure the magazine is held fairly tight. Your installation is method is just fine.

Mine runs better than the Howa stuff. As stated, the mag release is on the side so you are not likely to drop one.

Same for me , the CZ mags run really well in my gun. Glad I spent the money.

Even though I had already dropped the coins in the slot for a DIP bottom metal and extended mag catch, after reading this thread, I ordered the Jefferson Outdoors CZ mag conversion and two more CZ mags. Since I have a CZ 527 in 7.62x39, there is always room for more mags.
I bolted the Jefferson conversion on this morning, perfect fit in the stock, snug, but not necessary to force it in place at all.
I hope to get to my range at the gator ponds this weekend.
My father in law dabbled in the gator farming business in the late 1980's, lost his shirt doing so, but it left some nice mounds of Florida sand for me to shoot into.
Anybody want a deal on a DIP plate and mag latch?
