120 PPU vs 120 Wolf Gold

I'm looking to start stocking up on some factory ammo while I build my Grendel. My main use will be some whitetail hunting and light target shooting. Most of my hunting and targets will be under 200 yds. I'll be using a 16" MLGS 1/7.5.

Eventually, I will do some hand loading to get the best performance but for now am looking at economic factory loads.

Is there much, if any, difference between the 120gr PPU BTHP and the Wolf Gold 120gr MPT? How do either of these fair as a hunting round?

How much difference in using the PPU 110 FMJ for target?

As the PPU/Wolf brass apparently is not well suited for multiple reloads, maybe I should just stick to Hornady factory for the brass? Thoughts?

I bought 500 rounds of the PPU for the same reasons you describe. I need brass plus I want to practice. My thought is that the price point of the PPU (or Wolf Brass) makes it hard to justify buying components and loading practice ammo. Hard to justify buying brass alone when you can buy loaded ammo that cheap. I have not loaded any of the PPU cases yet.

One of my Grendels likes 120gr PPU better than the Wolf, but inch and a quarter groups are common with each at 100 yards. They are interchangeable at 100 and 200 yards anyway.
If your asking about the steal cased imported ammo- AH... I have a couple of cases in the back of the closet (just in case),but after trying it in 4 different Grendels my opinion is "its about SKS accurate".

Wolf doesn't make anything. They are an importer. They have been importing the 120gr PPU in the Wolf Gold line for years now. If you look at the headstamps on the cases, they both say PPU, both are a 120gr BTHP, both made by the same company in the same place (PPU).

Here are 4 consecutive groups I shot yesterday, first groups out of this lightweight 16.5" Lilja barrel at 100yds:

Here's a group I shot just messing around getting readings over the chrono with an 18" Lilja I built for another forum member, using the blue box 120gr PPU:

NRA Basic, Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, RSO

CCW, CQM, DM, Long Range Rifle Instructor

The PPU 110 grain FMJ was not as accurate in my 16" 6.5 Grendel as the Wolf/PPU 120 grain MPT/HP BT ammo.

Just went to the range this morning and can convincingly say my rifle like SST's better than PPU 120's... 3/8" group vs 1" group.
