I read the recently released Accurate 2520 might be manufactured in Czech Republic where Accurate used to source powder. I just looked at the latest Western loading data and the 6.5 Grendel loads for Accurate 2520 seem to be the same as the previous Western load data. I have not seen any of the released A2520 for sale in my area but I will purchase this powder if I find it in stock. Just curious if you had a source stating the Accutate 2520 is produced in the USA. The article I read indicated the Accurate 2520 was the same powder as Lovex Powder DO73.6 which has been sold in Europe and just recently released in the US
I have a 8lb jug that I'm pretty sure is "old" judging by the label style, I saw lots of 2520 at this past weekends gun show. It has the same label style as most of the AA powder so I just figured it was newer production but couldn't really tell different manufacturing location. Perhaps I missed it on the fine print?
The published data will be good for all AA 2520 wether it was made in Belgium or the US. The original AA2520 was made in Czechoslovakia and and is what is being sold now as the Lovex DO73.6 When Accurate Powders was getting powder from Lovex they would have tested each batch to insure that it met specifications and so was safe to use with their published data for AA2520. They are not doing that any more so what they are saying is don't assume that our data is safe to use with the Lovex powder. There is published data for the Lovex powders and the data for the DO73.6 is very similar to data for AA2520. Based on what I have been able to learn about the situation I would feel safe using data for AA2520 powder to develop loads with Lovex DO73.6 for cartridges that Lovex does not have data for but that is me and I would be starting with minimum loads and working up from there. At some point in the future I am going to do a load development with both the Lovex and AA in my wifes 308 just to see how different the two powders are from each other.
I would think, and this is pure speculation on my part, the new 2520 would have to be within the performance tolerances of the old because of the history of polished data available for it.
