    Chrono Data

For everyone's viewing pleasure. I just chronographed some rounds out of my 18" Odin Works barrel. These were taken from a Magnetospeed V3 chrony. I plan on reloading the Hornaday brass with CFE223, CCI 450 and Hornaday 123 GR A-MAX. I'll post those results when done.

Those are some impressive speeds from an 18" tube, especially that wolf 100gr stuff. Pretty good es and sd too.

A little disconcerting that you jumped 200fps on the last series with the Wolf, and 100fps on the Amax (13 -14)

Different lot #s on the ammo?

How about accuracy on the Wolf?

Wow crazy velocity! My 16" Odin tube shoots factory Hornady Black around 2350 fps... odd that you are 200fps faster with an 18"... heck those are faster than my buddies 20" Odin setup or my old 20" Shilen barrel.

My 16" AA and 18" Lilja speeds overlap each other with the same factory ammo and hand loads in many cases.

I've never have a chrono'd factory 123gr load from the 16" that low before. Most are 2440-2470fps with Hornady.

I wouldn't be surprised at a lot variation like that with Amax. I took JP's intro PR course last fall and ordered 2 cases of Amax from SG Ammo. I assumed they were the same lot (and didn't know any better there would be a difference) but they weren't. Didn't figure that out until the 2nd night. After chronolng on day 2 we went to the KD range. With the instructor spotting, I went through a mag - got all hits from 400-600 and did pretty well on the 700 considering there was a 20mph wind. Put in a new mag and started sailing everything high on the truing bar at 800. Adjusted my hold to get it hitting. Instructor redid my card based on the hold. I loaded up a fresh mag and proceeded to put everything low. Needless to say it was a frustrating afternoon but a lesson well learned.

I only tried the wolf once and swore it off after that nights cleaning session. I thought it was very temperature sensitive given the way the groups stringed - even at 100.

rwade, How does your brass look from the Amax's getting in the mid 2500's (see my "warm load" thread)
            Let's go Brandon!

Tell me about it! Been working on load development like a devil trying to find a accuracy node with a higher charge. 28.5 8208 has a 123 ELD moving at about 2420 fps.. great accuracy, but I believe I'm over 50k psi so I don't belive I'll mass produce that load. CFE is giving me great velocities, but accuracy from 31.3gr to 31.6 was getting wild. I'm going to play with ARComp next... Hornady claims 2350 is where I should be with the factory black out of a 16" tube... Never tried any of the old hornady match with the AMAX or custom loads with the SST but I was under the impression the "black" 123 line was a re-boxed match line with a ELD instead of the AMAX.

Almost all other reports in reading people are getting 2400-2480 with factory stuff in 16" tubes, even though Hornady lists the factory 123 SST load at 2350 from a 16" test barrel..

My headspacing is perfect, brass barely grows from firing, only pressure sign I see before backing off is ejector swipes, have yet to see a CCI 450 flatten in any way..
