That's for a 120gr AMAX. I'll have to run the stats for a 100gr AMAX with the different BC's listed using a G1 model.

      For a 100gr AMAX with listed .465 G1 BC at 2800fps, with a 2.7" scope height, we're looking at:

      Range......Velocity........Energy.........Drop (MILS)..........Wind Drift (10mph)
      100..........2601fps...... 1502ft/lbs....Zero.....................0.2 Mils
      200..........2411.......... 1290..........-0.34.....................0.41
      300..........2229.......... 1103......... -1.01.....................0.64
      400..........2055.............937......... -1.83....................0.88
      500.........1889............792......... -2.78...................1.15
      600..........1732.............666......... -3.87....................1.43
      700..........1586.............558......... -5.10....................1.75
      800..........1451.............467......... -6.51....................2.08
      900..........1330.............393......... -8.12....................2.44
      1000........1225.............333......... -9.95....................2.83

Same input, but with G1 BC of .400:

      300..........2143..........1019......... -1.06....................0.75
      400..........1946........... 841......... -1.94....................1.05
      500..........1761........... 688......... -2.98....................1.38
      600..........1589........... 561......... -4.19....................1.74

The difference between a .400 BC and a .465 BC with all else the same is the difference between a 420yd and 500yd effective range based on an 800ft-lb retained energy minimum for hunting projectiles.

Can't believe everything on the 'net, but this link to a 2-page thread on another forum indicates that BC of Hornady 6.5mm 100gr A-Max is .390:

This seems more in line with reported BC of Berger's 6.5mm 100gr at .370. Just didn't seem possible that the 100gr A-Max would have the same BC as the 120gr...

Yeah, I'm calling typo as well. They would have to dip it in snake oil and nanoscopic berillium zantitium unobtainium disulfide to get it to have that BC, and that stuff's expensive...

              Tastes bad, too.

                In fact, berillium tastes sweet.

One hopes one didn't learn that from personal experience!

The stuff is poisonous, but takes awhile for the symptoms to exhibit.
