Go for it, great powder for 6.5G, .223/5.56, .308, and others

From the indications it looks like it is working well for a lot of people, but I'm a little reluctant to load up rounds for the 6.5 Grendel using a powder that the manufacturer doesn't show in their own load data for this cartridge. What say you guys?

I've been using CFE223 in my Grendels and various 223/5.56 flavors for years with great results. I have 24" barrels so my results are better than most. I go all the way to 127gr bullets before switching to H335.

    Not real temperature sensitive either.

I'm fairly new to reloading, I thought about trying SMKs 120 & H322 for my first Grendel rounds
Loaded & fire formed 50 rounds (new Hornady brass) using 24.3 gn of Hodgdon H322 & WSR primers
Has anyone tried this combination? I have to say- what a difference in groups than factory ammo
I used load data from Sierra for the 120gn Match King

          Tangent,

LLRPF52 told me to try the 120SMK?s.

My findings were: it doesn?t matter which powder, which charge weight or seating depth you use..........they all shoot one MOA or better. Most were sub MOA. It is impossible to get this projectile to shoot poorly.

The 52 & 53 SMK?s preform much the same way in my CF 22?s.

I load everything straight from the Sierra Book most of the time.

99% if the time I can find a load that shoots lights out, way , way below the published max load.

Most of my kills are under 100 yards so speed does not matter. Being able to put the bullet exactly where I want to is what I try to do. I could care less how fast it gets there.

I've loaded up to 32 grains of cfe 223 under the 120 gold dot. Got velocities of just over 2500 ft/sec out of my 20 inch barrel. Accuracy wasn't great. No pressure signs on my brass but gave up on it there.

You are in the right place Tangent. These boys are smart cookies.

Do NOT be hesitant to ask questions.

Try IMR 8208XBR. My barrel loves the 120SMK with 28.0 grains of 8208XBR.

so far, I've got my best groups believe it or not out of Varget. 13/16 inch. covered to the center of the bullet holes on a 5 shot group with a nickel. ! I want 1/2 Inch groups at 100 yards!
27.8 Grains and it doesnt seem to matter if it is a 123 Hornady ELD or The Sierra 123.
I am going to try the CFE next.
I have NOT chronographed any of my loads yet as I have found only this ONE to be halfway acceptable to me.

H322 and Sierra 120 MK are very good in my RAP.

H322 is very accurate but the FPS. just isn't there .

I love 28gr of CFE223 under a 123gr ELD. Not the fastest load out there but it shoots! This is a 5 shot group. I've since shot a few better groups and lots not as good, but all well under 1".

Anyone have min/max load data for CFE 223 and 100 grain bullet. I usually load 29.5 of xbr under a 100 Barnes TTSX for deer. Running low on power and would like to get a couple 8lbs tubs of cfe 223 to load 223 and 6.5.

Hornady 10th Ed. lists Accurate 2460 @ 30.3grains giving 2700 fps with 100 grain bullets. CFE 223 gives 2650 with the same weight charge. Benchmark gives 2650 fps with 29.4 grains. The loads I've chrono'd using Hornady data usually run about 50 fps faster than their numbers, but they measure using an 18" barrel and mine is 20".
