A loaded a ton of ammunition on a single stage press with an automatic primer feeder. Deprime and prime in one stroke. Then I decided I wanted to clean primer pockets.

Used the RCBS for several years but got tired of hand cramps when doing more that a batch of 100.

The RCBS (https://www.midwayusa.com/product/45...h-priming-tool) works a lot better but still has quirks and surprises.

The Forster Forster Co-Ax Bench Priming Tool looks interesting but I haven't tried it (https://www.midwayusa.com/product/14...h-priming-tool).

Read the reviews and comments in this thread and then decide.

I use the same hand primer and have noted that if the plastic shell holder is not centered than the primer rod does not drop down all the way so next primer can not slide in, plus keep the primer rod clean as it can also stick . Also I rock it side to side to make sure primers feed into it.

Asked the same question a while back. This was recommended by a few people. I bought it and it works great.

Used a Lee hand priming tool for years but it eventually broke....

Not a separate priming tool, but I use the Redding slide bar priming system on my press.

I've used the RCBS for years.

Deff has it's quirks, but what I like is the positive feel I get for just how tight the pockets are and my seating depth.

Most of the time i use two Forster Co-Ax Bench Priming Tool, one set up for large primers and one for small.

I've worn out my old round feed Lee tool, but occasionally use it for a few rounds. I also have the RCBS Universial priming too that does not require shell holders. It works very well, however, the, albeit small, effort required to snap each cartridge in/out piles up after a few hundred rounds.

Anyone using the RCBS hand primer have any of the primers got off accidentally? It hasn't happened to me (just started using it), but someone told me it could and has happened.

Still, I have not seen that being an issue with anyone here using the RCBS priming tool.

Thousands and thousands of rifle and pistol primers, large and small, with never a peep. The only time I may have come close was when I placed the rod in upside down, with the rounded end up. Even then, with very firm pressure, nothing nasty happened.

I can't say I have read where what you describe has happened, but it seems to me that you'd really need to wail the tar out of a seated primer to force the anvil to make contact hard enough to ignite the primer.
If it's true that we are here to help others, then what exactly are the others here for?

You are dealing with explosives. Yes, one can go of with any priming tool. It is a statistical improbability, but in our wonderful litigious society, you have to be warned.
