When I get it back I will load up 5 of each with the same powder, primer and bullet and give it a go....
And post the results.

I annealed 357 Herett in the past. It is pretty easy. Get a propane torch and a bucket of water. Pick up each case and twirl the neck in the flame until just red hot and drop in the bucket of water. Holding the case by the base prevents overheating unless you have asbestos fingers.

MC,
You may be right. It's been 20 years since I did this. I may have done this under low light conditions so I said just red, not fully red. I do know it was impossible to hold for very long, which is the point of holding it in your fingers. Each piece only takes a few seconds.

One of the reasons that I like to pin tumble is that it gets the inside of the case necks clean enough inside, to have Tempilac 750 stick without an insulating layer of carbon. (you paint it on the inside of the case neck). That is the only practical, for me anyway, way to tell when it's done. Having a little tool to spin the case with a battery drill helps a lot. There is a lot to know to get it just right, not too much, not too little. When done right, cases last a lot longer and accuracy is enhanced.Last edited by Mad Charlie; 09-07-2017, 03:50 AM.

Finally got round to actually shooting this test, glad that I did, made a huge difference as you can see by the photo!
Shot 4 groups of 5 shots.
They measured as followed :
+ 1/3 turn into the shell holder 1.4"
On the shell holder. 0.5"
- 1.0 turn off the shell holder. 0.7"
-2.0 turns off the shell holder. 0.5"
Not sure I can improve on these but will shoot out to 200 and 300 yds next.Last edited by lrgrendel; 09-19-2017, 06:14 PM.

I think I read about this first in the Lee reloading handbook about 30 years ago. Just another tool in the search for better precision.
Is that the heavy barrel HOWA mini or a lighter weight barrel?Last edited by bj139; 09-20-2017, 12:38 AM.

This is more of what I had in mind. Yours looks exceptional but I would like a traditional looking Grendel.
