    Powder/Primer/Insurance ?

Just in case it gets wet or blows away. Does anybody know how my standard home owner hurricane insurance covers a lifetime supply of powder and primers?

Each case can be unique. Could possibly not cover anything of "hazardous materials" as far as loss is concerned. Rifles or other guns, are different, usually there is a policy limit unless you add a rider to cover more, they are considered "valuables".

I'm an Underwriter at a major insurance company. The best advice is to read your policy and talk to your agent about adding any additional coverage that you need.

Many homeowners insurance policies have a sub-limit for 'firearms and related items' that applies only to theft. If your house burns down the limit does not apply. If someone steals your stuff, it does.

The question often comes down to definitions. Does powder, bullets, primers, and ammunition count as 'related items?' Probably.
