    Warner Flat-Line Bullet Length question

    IS

Here is the full review written by Long Range Only ELR editor Jeff  VanNiel aka “Jeff VN” From BAR STOCK to SOLID BULLETS – FLATLINE BULLETS Some of you might be aware that I have been beta/prototype testing lathe-turned solid rifle projectiles for two completely different bullet design teams over the last 4 or […]

A few months ago, I introduced Flat Line Bullets (view post) designed by Josh Kunz and made by the Warner Tool Company (WTC). These new monolithic, lathe-turned bullets claimed some crazy-high Ballistic Coefficients (BC). BC defines how efficiently a bullet is able to cut through air and retain its velocity down-range. If you’ve been shooting long-range ...

    I reload for my rifles.
    Two thoughts.
    1. The 121 gr 6.5 shows 1.462" length, which exceeds the 129 Nosler ABLR at 1.350. IMO the ABLR is as long as I would go, and even for that one I personally load it only in my Howa where I can get longer coal's. Most of the time I'd load the 130 gr Accubond anyway b/c it's a bit shorter still (powder room) but very accurate and able to go farther than I can shoot - 400 yds for bambi if I saw one that far...
    2. They are $62.00 per 50, which also makes them pretty costly to shoot very much.

Those 2 considerations for me make this bullet a non-starter, I have too much fun shooting the regular bullets, and I shoot pretty often for a retired guy-amateur.

Others may like them however, I'm just sayin' for me.

Like your tagline by the way!

I watched and read the testing on snipershide of the warner tool bullets and they are impressive....a 20 inch 308 outperformed a 6.5 creedmoor....I would like to try some, but the length looks to be too much for a Grendel to get the performance the bullet is capable of...

These were discussed previously and the consensus was that they were too long to be able to achieve the velocities to take advantage to the design.

Take a look at the photo in the bottom of Post #1 here

I did say it was a novice question. I kind of thought it would be too long. Just wanted to be sure.

Even it it wasn't too long, the cost alone would prevent me from shooting it in 6.5 Grendel, regardless of how fast it goes. Might be a different story if I was a sponsored shooter, and I was capable of shooting 5 shot groups @ .25 MOA.
