Todays Varget and 123 ELDM loads BCA barrel

Here is my problem child BCA barrel using Varget and 123ELDM loaded stupid short to keep them off the lands. Right at 2.20. I know they are only 3 shot groups as I was trying to save powder and bullets. Ill go back and shoot the good ones with 5 shot groups at a later date to verify. How much powder and FPS are written next to each group. My friends chrono was messing up and sometimes it only picked up one or two of the 3 shots so thats why the average fps does not mesh with some of the powder charges. All in all I feel better about this gun and I think I can live with it.

I loaded 5 rounds with varget at 28.0 to yry.
I have an 18" barrel.

Looks like you got one of the good barrels.

Yeah, 28.1 was the best but 27.8 was also really good. I thought about trying 28.0 just to make sure Im closer to the middle of the node.

Ive had several of their barrels but this is the only one in Grendel. They all shot really well. This one took some work to get there. Stupid short throat.

Not bad at all considering it is Varget. I could hear it every now and then but not bad at all really. Max shows to be 28.9 in the Hornady book.

I'd live with a short throat for that kind of accuracy at that price point at around 28 grains. Maybe we can call it a Grendel III chamber.

Ha. We need to call it something. It may fall apart with 5 shot groups but seeing where the poi has been pretty consistent I think it will hold up. Right now Im happy.

You should be fine as long as you don't StoneHendge the fourth shot

Ive never seen someone get that kind of velocity with Varget. Maybe you do have a magic barrel. As long as it shoots and functions well who cares if the chamber is short I guess?
