    Hornady Black 123 ELDM Results

    A lot of people have been posting that they are getting crap accuracy from Hornady Black ammo now. It used to be the Go-To ammo for factory sub MOA and barrel testing.

    Please post your results, including barrel mfg., length, MV (if you have it) and most importantly, LOT NUMBER of the ammo.

    Please keep the posts limited to data only.

    I will edit this post with my latest run later this week when I get home. Two rifles, two sub MOA groups.

    PF Neptune VIII - Barlitien Barrel 18"
    Sub .5 groups
    Avg MV 2475.
    Lot # 81528

    24" Lilja Heavy contour
    Sub .5 groups
    Avg MV 2475
    Lot # 81528

    20" Howa mini 1500 (x4)
    Sub MOA groups *all of them have only fired one, 5 round group.
    MV from 2425 to 2490.

    My first two boxes of Hornady Black put me to work finding a load that shot better than the factory load. The last three boxes I have used I easily beat for accuracy with reloads. Different rifles though. On the other hand the SST load has given excellent accuracy out of every rifle I shot it in. Lot # 189020 Hornady Black has not given the finest of accuracy in either my latest AR or my newest Howa. 1' to 1 3/4" when the first lots stayed under an inch. Could be rifle preference.

      Didn't break out the magneto speed....

        Glad I found this thread, I was looking at the american gunner 200 round bulk buy from The Sportsman as a way to stock up on rounds for a bargain.
        While I do not have any pics, my gun shoots the Hornady Black very similar to the above post.
        Something I could certainly live with anyway

        Only have 40 rounds left though and the prices for ammo are on the rise.
        Everything I enjoy doing is either illegal, immoral or, just to damn expensive

              I use Hornady Black to get on paper, using SST 123 grain for hunting pigs, getting .25 inch group at 100 yards using 18 inch Ballistic Advantage barrel, very accurate gun.

                Just picked up some Hornady black to use through my first build. I would be happy with those results.
