    Reliant 10x

Picked some up over the weekend from a place going out of business, never used any before. It's listing 223 and 22-250 on the bottle, since I load a lit of 223 that's why I decided to get it.

Going to the website, it's got some data for 6.8, but nothing on the 6.5. Just wondering if anyone has tried this powder in the Grendel, and if not, how's the best way to go about working up loads, finding a starting point?

Hornady has data for Alliant 10X data for 95 grain V-Max and 100 grain SP, A-Max. Hornady shows a start load of 22.9 grains max load of 27.3. Alliant 10X powder is a fast burning powder with a similar burn rate to Accurate 2230, H-322 or Viht N-130 and probably most suitable to light 6.5/.264 bullts like 85 grain Sierra varmint, 90 grain Speer TNT, 100 grain A-Max or maybe 107 grain SMK.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm mostly interested in 90 grain speer for making some target loads. I'll check out Hornady's data

I seem to recall a note that the 107 SMKs should be grouped more with the heavier 120 classes because of the elongated construction of that bullet creating more bearing surfaces inside the bore. Any truth to this?

I really don’t have a precise way to measure the bearing surface of the 107 grain SMK. If you compare a blunt bullet like the 90 grain TNT, 100 grain Hornady SP or 100 grain Sierra Varmint bullet I think you’ll find similar bearing surface. As long as a reloader uses safe loading practices I believe 10X is safe to load with 107 grain SMK.

Sierra online loading data list Alliant Reloader 10X with the 107 grain SMK start load 22.7 grains and max load 25.9 grains.

I just checked Speer’s online reloading data since the OP was going to use Alliant 10X with Speer 90 grain TNT. Speer list a starting load of 25.7 grains and a max load of 28.5 grains 10X powder with a 90 grain TNT.
