    85gr sierra load?

Anyone willing to share their pet load with the 85gr sierra?

So far, 28.2 - 28.5gr XBR-8208 seems to be the sweet spot for my 1:14 twist 22" barrel.

It's a Hart barrel on an all custom benchrest rifle.

              Thanks!

Sounds your rifle likes the lighter bullets and definitely dislikes 120 gr and heavier cup and core bullets

Yep. Even the 107 gr jackets start to wander a bit.

I think the reason most folks go with slow twist is to get peak accuracy with lighter bullets.

Is that what you had in mind -- and did you get the accuracy you hoped for?

                    Hi tools'

Been working on a Grendel load with these too, just do a forum search on "85 gn Sierra varminters" and it'll pop us. Hope its helpful to you!!

In my 6.5x55 these shot fantastic, which is kinda odd, cuz I don't think the 85 gn varminters are a "choice" bullet for the round? I had very many 0.5" 5-shot groups and some smaller. In the Grendel, I'm having a bit of a trial getting consistent 0.5" or below, but a lot of the problem may be the shooter.

                      Here's where I left off...

                      Brass: Unfired Norma
                      Primer: Fed 205M
                      Bullet: 85gn sierra Varminter
                      Calse length: untrimmed, 1.510 +/- 0.005"
                      OAL: 1.2060" (Lee F/L sized)
                      COAL: 2.11 +/- 0.005" (Wilson seater)
                      Powder: Benchmark
Best charges: 28.3 and 29.5 gave me about 0.3" vertical

That was 5-shot groups at 100y. I was a bit disappointed with the horizontal (maybe 1" max?) but I couldn't see my recoil behavior and call my shots. I had to shoot through a weird tube setup at a public range. I couldn't tell when my form was causing good or crazy recoil. From what I could tell, it was almost all horizontal, but I really don't know for sure??? Very frustrating.

I should mention that I was shooting off a very good bench, with bipod and bags. Slightly loading the 'pod against a big bag in front.

                            That'll be a JP, 22", 1:8

It shot factory 123 AMax Match great yesterday. 0.25" @ 100. I chickened out after the 3rd shot though, lol!
