    Well that kinda stinks!!

SPEER is a REAL bad one for disco bullets that I like... SO much so I swore off them ten+ years ago for it!!

Guess I'll need to place a order soon!!

    Merry Christmas,

The company has gone from a proud private company to a division of a international one. The customer only matters when it affects the bottom line.

        Guys:

Do you think Sierra would be discontinuing these bullets if they were selling?

Was going to say, the ones they list which I recognize or have experience with in .308 are really dated and unlikely to be selling well with their own TMK line now available as well as a slew of updated offerings from other companies.

Same same for the 55gr offerings.

Nobody is paying Sierra prices for obsolete products when there are far cheaper/better options available.

I recently went back to Speer now that a store in town sells them. They are half the price of the Sierras. I am sweet on the .308 165 HPBT Gameking though.

#1 The Speer TNT 90 grain bullets have gotten rave reviews on this forum forever. Deadly on hogs (some use them on deer) and anything smaller.
#2 At Midway the 85g Sierra cost 29c each while the Speer 90g TNT is 19 cents. I doubt that the Sierra performs better than the Speer but costs 50% more. I bought 500 of the Speer TNT when they were on sale for 16c each.

The Sierra is discontinued because they're not selling. Understandable.

Yes, they have them. I think I have a hundred or so. I used to shoot them at 200 for the standing and seated stage of the Regional Match Course. They didn't shoot as well as a longer bullet so I used them for practice. They are so short that you have a gigantic amount of jump to the lands. Nothing spectacular about their performance but nothing horrible either. Never shot anything but paper with them but when I went to the 100 grain model, things worked better. However, if you are going to shoot a 100 grain flat base bullet competitively, might as well shoot a better 108 grain bullet. Recoil is why we would shoot light bullets standing and seated but with the Grendel the recoil is pretty light with anything so it didn't matter other than cost.

Yep same reason i like the 90 TNTs, super low recoil. Same reason i like the 107SMKs actually. Through a scope, i can see hits perfectly with the 90s, very good with the 107s, but barely with anything over 120. 140s I cant see them at all.

I just wish Sierra would make some 120 Pro Hunter bullets. I have not seen any for over a year anyplace.

                            quick, get some!

The Spitzer shape of this 120 grain #1720 bullet assures excellent downrange performance and precise accuracy. This bullet will perform well at longer ranges on medium game from the 264 Winchester Magnum and the 6.5x284 cartridges, but it will be too fragile for close-range shots. It is an excellent all-around bullet for smaller capacity 6.5mm cartridges. While this bullet is generally considered too "hard" for handgun hunting situations, the 120 grain #1720 bullet would be a good choice for medium game at short ranges. It is best used in 6.5mm cartridge cases with powder capacity equal to the 223 Remington or larger and loaded to maximum velocities. This 120 grain bullet gives the handgunner target accuracy suitable for all target applications, including full-size handgun silhouettes. This is not loaded ammunition.
