130gr RDF 2nd's initial results. Plus some Starline fire forming.

Figure I would start sharing some of my data here since I have gathered so much data from this forum over the last few years. Well made it out to the range today to test some 130gr RDF seconds and fire form some new starline brass using some various loads. Would have been a nice day but the wind was brutal 47 degrees with a 15-20 mph wind from 10 o'clock. All new starline brass loads grouped 1"-1.5" which seems to be the norm for me and the 123gr nosler custom comp. I must admit I was a little rusty and was having a hard time getting settled in as well. I loaded the 130gr RDF with a couple loads that have worked will with other 129/130gr loads and played with seating depth. Those were shot in once fired and annealed starline brass. Rifle is a 20" BHW standard profile 1:8. Not sure why the SD's were so horrible but thinking I may try some cci 450's next time out.

Do not start at any of these loads they are warm but don't show excessive pressure signs in my rifle. The 27.5gr 8208 in the 130gr RDF was just starting to show a slight ejector mark but that was it for all of these loads.

    Welcome aboard and nice work.

That CFE223 load looks promising for sure.

This makes me not feel so bad about getting an 8 pounder of CFE223 from Bruno's (they were out of 1's)

Impressive groups for the wind you were fighting. CFE seems to give good velocity with those big bullets.

I use 31.0 grains CFE223 and CCI 450 primers with 123 grain Nosler CC and has proven accurate in several of my AR-15’s in 6.5 Grendel. With 47 degrees your velocity is in the same range I get with a 20” Shilen Match barrel.

Thanks guys looking forward to being more active over here. I will try and continue to update my results with the RDF on this page. I for heavies I always come back to cfe223 or LVR for the lighter bullet benchmark is my go to. 31gr of CFE223 with a 123 amax was my first solid load and has never disappointed in the 4 barrels I've shot.

Glad someone was able to get those to shoot. I've had zero luck with them in 4 different powders...including CFE

I was pleasantly surprised as well! Sticks have you played with seating depth at all? These and the 140gr I shoot in my creedmoor seem to like a pretty specific jump.

Seating depth? No I have not. I doubt that 5 thou is going to tighten up the groups that I had. They were pretty bad.

Sir you will be amazed how big of a difference a minute difference in jump makes.
