Here's the data for the .45 colt straight from the Hodgdon web site. The next to last number is the velocity at max load. Ruger, Freedom arms, and contender/encore only.

        360 GR. CPB LFN GC Hodgdon H4227 .452" 1.680" 19.5 1004 21,100 CUP 22.0C 1167 29,800 CUP
        360 GR. CPB LFN GC Hodgdon H110 .452" 1.680" 18.0 1012 20,200 CUP 21.0 1151 28,300 CUP
        360 GR. CPB LFN GC Hodgdon Lil'Gun .452" 1.680" 15.5 984 22,400 CUP 18.0 1131 29,700 CUP

        I won't post .45 colt further so I don't hijack the thread.

but....it really does taste like chicken. Often, it is battered, deep fried, and served with a remoulade sauce.......all of which mask the taste. But, if I had to compare it, I'd say "it tastes like chicken" but it tends to be more tender than chicken. I am speaking of gator tail btw. I have heard that the cheeks (jaw muscle) are really good too.

Quad-- Wow, is it healthy for us = Eating a rrrr... reptile ? = hmmmm.... - remoulade will mask- what ,- the recentely eaten chicken taste-, or the taste of an elongated muddy swamp Wolf ? . I'll find a local Mpls. restaurant that may have gator on the menu, and I'll try a bite.- I'll let you know- from a MN. chefs point of veiw. Thanks- Quad.

                Escargot anyone?

Of course -- the only thing one can taste when properly prepared is butter and garlic. It also helps to have had a few beers and some hard liquor!
