    Dual-use seating die?

I have read in a few places that the Hornady 6.5 Grendel seater can also be used on 6.5 Creedmoor. If true it would greatly simplify my reloading setup. Any one else heard this?

Never thought about this but I would assume so. Especially since the micrometer seating stem they sell is standardized.
Will have to check since I have both already.

Works for me. When I got my first Hornady die set I noticed the seating die wasn't marked for cartridge and it's obvious it only holds the neck of the case.

As I wrote in another thread, I bought the Hornady Match Grade die set in 6.5CM and also use that seating die for 260 Rem and Grendel. Saved some money by getting the 260 Rem body die separately.

A seating stem that matches the type of bullet still matters.

Thanks fellas. I’ll be sure to order the other stems when I order the sizing die.

I use a 260 seating die on my 6.5-06. 6.5-06 dies are pretty expensive so I was planning to buy them one at a time on ebay but ran across a 260 die for nearly nothing before I found a 6.5-06 seater die.

Hmm, made a light come on. I have gotten ticked about Hornady seater because they are not marked as per caliber or cartridge.

Had some issues a year or so ago, dies got mixed and put into the wrong boxes.

I would suspect seater body is generic. Floating stem may be case specific?

No, caliber specific. Hold the sliding sleeve and insert a case, only the neck goes in.
